Other than giving Newsom some national exposure for 2028, I don't see an upside for him or the Democrats. Newsom could hand DeSantis his ass on a platter and the folks who would vote for DeSantis wouldn't even notice. i guess DeSantis might alienate the few voters who aren't repulsed by him yet.

Oh it won't change the minds of the horrific GQP base of anything. But that's not the point. You want to inspire Dems of all stripes, plus expose the GQP base platforms for what they are to more moderate Dems and independents and realize more how keeping a Dem in office is so important.

I think people need to see the MAGA base type politicians exposed. Biden is nothing but weak on that and the Dems in general.

It's nothing but upside if it goes well. I think people here fail to realize how much non political junkies need to see these guys have their asses handed to them on a platter. This is exactly what non MAGA scum need to see.

This sort of thinking needs to be done away with. It’s not about turning the Republican base, it’s about persuading swing voters who, contrary to popular thinking, are the decisive voters. Forget both bases. Go for the middle.

That being said there’s no election here so as you say it’s mostly about exposure for them both.

Seems like a smart move in a way. The stakes are basically 0 right now. May as well set yourself up.

Incorrect. Maybe that's why Newsom is doing it, but any smackdown in any big media venue by a prominent Dem over a prominent GQP'er is a big win.

I can't believe Dems are still oblivious that average Americans need to see some proof of prominent Dems spanking R's in public venues with straight talk. Biden sure ain't doing it.

You don't want to show your hand too early in the game. Biden has shit to do, because he's actually president, unlike Trump. I expect an "American president" (the movie) moment from Biden. Let trump bluster for a while, then Biden comes out with the haymakers and makes a bold, unassailable statement.

This is ummm, a great strategy?

First question people leaving California and going to Florida. Why is Florida so great?

Can’t wait to hear slant of following questions.

Newsom needs to talk about crime, a lot of cops are fleeing to Florida in droves. A LOT.

Next question. Why are CA taxes so high compared to FL?

If the next question is so slanted I’m going to bail

Third question why is FL unemployment so much lower then CA.

I’m bailing. These questions are all slanted to favor DeSantis. I’ll watch the post game or review what you all say

I’m not going to watch but did newsom have any decent responses?
There was a lot of talking over each other

Someone let me know if they get to

Abortion
DeSantis culture wars
Voting rights
Authoritarian creep

My guess not on Hannity list of questions

Not really IMO. The questions are slanted, but Newsom is struggling out of the gate.

Having said that, Faux just posted a chart that said per capita COVID deaths in both states was nearly identical, per CDC. However my recollection, which Newsom asserts, is that it’s much higher in Florida (and many other red states).

Moderator bias is one thing, but outright fake facts???

Newsom now slamming Death Santis for his morally bankrupt policies against migrants.

Surely the moderators will ask why California is the 5th largest world economy on its own, and why can't Florida keep pace?..…right?

Or why are books involving black history being banned in schools? Or why was the lie spread CRT was being taught in Florida schools. Bet Hannity wont ask that

I have no problem with the shitty cops who are afraid of accountability fleeing to a state I refuse to visit. Maybe Florida will eventually figure out that a bunch of dead citizens murdered by incompetent cops isn’t a good look.

I believe that official CDC deaths per capita were nearly identical.

The obvious reason, of course, is that Florida is known to have cooked their numbers by intentionally underreporting.

Be that as it may, the official death rate in FL was clearly higher. IF Faux presented the data "correctly" at all, I believe it should have said AGE-ADJUSTED.

Anyway, stopped watching this about an hour ago. Death Santis seemed like he was winning but Newsom was having some fun getting in jabs about his dismal polling in the GOP race.

The half hour or so that I watched seemed incredibly biased, but I am a proud Californian.
