Its more expensive as a Geforce SDR and little bit cheaper then a Geforce DDR!
FSAA is a virtual nogo with the V4500 so why buy it?
Wow the Ati Fury MAXX is down to $110 thats cheap!

Wow, and I thought the GTS's and V5's were expensive, but at least they're speedy.

Voodoo4 is a dead on arrival after seeing how good the GeForce2 MX performs. Remember, the GeForce2 MX is cheaper than V4 4500. Which makes it even worse for 3dfx. nVidia is full of surprise attacks, 3dfx was never able to counter it.

V4500 was le garbage even before Geforce2MX, but when the MX is easily available buying the 4500 would be pure folly.

What sucks is that the V4500 performance is just about the same as a TNT2 or TNT2 ultra, which has been out for allmost a year.

3dfx is to late

Czar, V4 4500 is as fast as TNT2 Ultra only? Wait a minute, isnt that just about as fast as a Voodoo3? I dont think so, I think it's a bit faster than that, maybe close to the performance of a Savage2000.

GF2 MX nakes the GF2 DOA, IMHO. Unless you really want to pay $200 extra for a few extra fps in certain resolutions.

Look at how many machines still come with crappy video cards. those are V4's target, and it will do fine in that segment. The price will come down. But remember, a brand name commands a premium. And "Voodoo" is a well known brand. Therefore, it will cost more than a hypothetical equivalent board manufactured by Aopen, Creative, Asus, etc. Very few people know much about those companies, while many can instantly recognize the Voodoo name.

Info from riva3d.com

Hercules Prophet 2 MX/MX Dual-Display - Posted Wednesday, June 28, 2000 by Bigheadwillie - Comments (2)

Hercules has announced the upcoming release of their Prophet 2 MX and MX Dual Display cards...oh yeah!!....dual display baby!!!! These Mx cards are capable of 700 MegaTexels, 350 MegaPixels, and 22 million triangles per second. They also mention that the card can accomodate 4 texels per clock, leading me to the simple conclusion that the core is clocked slightly below the GF2 at 175 mhz. Release for the regular MX card is set for July 10th at the ultra-low MSRP of $149. Now for the dual display...release is set to happen at "the end of July for $199.99".

Not for $160, even though I have had really good luck with Voodoo products. But with the Elsa Erazor X at $145 and dropping, and the GF2MX at anywhere from $119 to $149, I have to say the Voodoo 4 will be gathering dust on a lot of retailer's shelves. Their only hope is to bring out a PCI version and pray that N'vidia doesn't offer a PCI version of the GF2MX, or dramatically drop that $160 price to around $100. And I don't know if 3Dfx can make the boards for that.

Never. What a waste of money. I`ll wait for the GeForce 2MX; it will
perform a lot better at an cheaper price, have stable Win2k drivers, and an higher fillrate so FSAA will be more playable.

Voodoo4's chipset is cheaper to make en masse than the V3 chipset so I doubt 3DfX will be out in the cold here. Progression is the name of the game. Judging by how well the Velocity OEM-targetted group is doing, I would guess that 3DfX will counter with an MX competitor without much problem.

The key to the MX is a stripped down GeForce SDR second-gen. Not a whole lot going for it in my opinion over the SDR except in cost. SDR's have commanded alot more than they were worth due to the lack of competition at the middle price range. The middle of the road is usually the most profitable; hence NVidia's large profit this past year.
