The official NFS: Underground car pic thread!

Just picked this game up yesterday from EBGames for the PS2, and I am loving it. The graphics are great (a little slowdown here and there), the amount of customization is limitless, and the controls are spot-on.

This will be the official thread to show off your cars you have customized in the game. All versions of the game are welcome. Make sure to point out which version of the game you have.

To start off, here are the pics of my Eclipse. I've unlocked a couple of cars as of right now, as well as the level 1 performance upgrades and some new vinyls.

Car 1 - 56k WARNING! (around 500KB)
Car 2 - 56k WARNING! (around 500KB)
Car 3 - 56k WARNING! (around 500KB)

Be gentle in your criticism ;).

I would also like to dedicate this thread to NFS4, the greatest supporter of NFS Underground :p

Nice acceleration you got there ;).

Do you earn money and upgrade your car? How does this compare to Midnight Club2?

How much control do you have over your cars and upgrading them and money and lal that? I am a big lover of the nfs series, but gta vice city is sucking up my xbox time right now.

I wouldn't get too excited as online play is a big component of the game.

BUT, the XBOX version doesn't support online play. Too bad you bought that XBOX eh Skoorbie? :D:p

Anyone care to comment on the PC version? NFS:HP looked pretty but the steering physics and force feedback were total crap.

Playing the PC version right now. Sliding all over the place but it was designed as such with the handbrake (unlike previous years) providing drifting. I don't think it's crap, just takes time to get used to.

How is it compared to say, Colin McRae Rally II (which has excellent steering feedback IMHO)?

Pretty cool that it's cross platform. You can race the PC guys on your PS2. First game to be released in the US with cross platform online capabilities.

Ya, my acceleration is lacking, but if you can handle those corners, that's all the acceleration you need.

Bascially, when you first start up the game, it prompts you to input a user profile. This achieves one of two things: it lets you begin the story mode, and also keeps track of the cars you customize. These are two seperate modes, so let me try to explain.

First, you have the Underground mode, which is the story or career mode. When you start, you pick your car from a list of around 5 (there are 20 total in the game). You have a set amount of money to buy your starting car, and whatever is left you can spend on upgrades. Not everything is available at the start. Actually, I would go as far as to guess you only have access to about 2 or 3% of what all is in the upgrade dept. You race, you earn money, you buy new parts. I'm not quite sure how the performance upgrades are done, but I did unlock the level 1 upgrades, and also got a bonus upgrade for one category after a race I won. Sorry, can't give you much more info than that.

The other mode is basically customizing whatever cars you have unlocked with whatever parts you have unlocked. This is completely seperate from the Underground mode, and whatever you've customized on your car there does not translate over to this mode. In the car customizing mode, you have no limits of money, the only limit is you can only use what you've unlocked so far. To me, this is basically where you can play around and trick out your cars without fear of running out of money. This is also where you customize your cars to race online. I compare it to the create-a-wrestler mode in Smackdown. I find it fun to just go in and create something nice looking with whatever I have available, then move on to the next car. My black eclipse was created in this mode. Once you customize a car, you have the ability to erase it and start completely over with the stock model if you so choose.

Hope that explains some things.

http://lfs.racesimcentral.com/sublinks.php?page=screenshots

it is DEFINATELY worth the download... trust me

and Live for Speed is a great game.. but with non-licenced cars and no damage modeling it is lacking.. but you can't beat the physics and wheel control/feel of that game

I couldn't stop playing this game when I got it for the PC yesterday. This game is hella fun. The drag racing online is the best part...now if they can add the amount of cars in Gran Turismo, this game would rock. I'm stuck driving a Civic Si right now....I do have money to get an Eclipse...but I'm ultimately saving up for a Nissan Skyline GT-R.

bull.... http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/914761.asp 93% on gamerankings, its not sh*tty.
depends on what people are expecting. i for my part hoped the new nfs would be more in the line of porsche unleashed and nor some arcady-ricer-racer.
maybe it's a 93 for an arcady ricer racer, but it's not what a lot of people wanted.
so chill dude

Have played it 4 hours straight so far and my hands need a break (from the keyboard, anyway). I'm stuck with my Miata... haven't earned the Eclipse yet even.

I hope it's not as frustrating as PGR1 was for XBOX... I quit playing that game shortly after getting the 'vette and can't beat anymore levels.

IIRC when quake3 was released for Dreamcast, PC guys were able to whoop on the DC noobs too.
