(On the positive side, MS is going to fix/replace it, even though it's out of the warranty period. I got the packaging today from MS, and am sending it out tomorrow.)

WTF? How short is the warranty? I would expect at least a year.

Warranty is 90 days from the date of purchase in the US. Same as it was with the first Xbox, PS2, Gamecube, etc.

Wow 90 days for any electronic stuff blows.

The UPS guy dropped off my coffin on Friday. There is absolutely no distinctive marking on the packaging. The return address is "Repair Center" in TX. Nothing whatsoever about MS or Xbox.

Yet, as he dropped off the box, the man in the brown uniform said, "Got a broken 360 huh?" It appears as though MS has been keeping him busy. *sigh*

I'm considering buying a new one and selling the one I get back from MS. I'll have to do some research and see if there's any new hardware revs or anything.

You're telling me, that's absolutely terrible.
