I'm apprehensive about going into war without the UN Resolution. Sure, Saddam needs to be overthrown. I agree with that. His regime has done things that are quite notorious to say quite the least. But, I'm concerned not only of him, but of US relations with the rest of the world. So the US overthrows Saddam. Now what? The US has basically strained diplomatic ties with many major countries. How is that going to affect our global economic ties? Instability will ensue in the ME for a period of time, which may lead to greater strain on our economy. Not only that, in my opinion, in the eyes of the anti-American zealots, this action will only add fuel to instigate more terrorism. I fear more of that will result from the war than the war itself.
The other thing I'm not quite convinced about is our so-called "intelligence." First of all, if we had such great intelligence on Iraq, how come Saddam has been able to evade the UN inspectors for so long? I'm not convinced we even know where all his weapons are hidden. I pray that our troops can make this as quick and low-casuality war as possible, but somehow I don't see that happening.
