Here I was waiting for NewEgg to get the E6600 in and they are selling the E6400 for more than I am willing to pay for the E6600. I am shocked and a little pissed off.

I have had the company I work for spend well over $80k with newegg over the past 4-5 years becasue they were a good company. After seeing this crap I will think long and hard about ZipZoomFly.

Exactly.

Well I'm still waiting for them to post the E6600, but they're about to lose damn near 3 grand from me alone.

I just talked with Newegg, the prices are apparently a mistake and will be being updated later today. They're not trying to gouge anything, it's a mistake.

That sounds amazingly fishy. How could you make a mistake this huge, on something so important? Maybe all the complaints are adding up after all...

It would take them all of 60 seconds to correct it if it was a mistake.

Screwegg is out for blood!!

Just called NewEgg and the rep. told me that the price is fine and that if I think their info is wrong I should call Intel and talk to them.

Unless they have E6600 for a reasonable price they have lost my business (it may only be $700 or so a year but I'm sure ZZF will appreciate it).

As I said, I called and was told the price was correct and after a long pause (presumably she asked someone) she told me that I could call Intel to complain about their incorrect description!

Well, the guy on the phone had a different answer for me (he was the one that said it was a mistake) but here is what the chat agent I got said:

Please wait while we connect you to a Newegg representative. You are number 1 in the queue.
Chat InformationThank you for contacting Newegg. My name is Nastassja. How may I assist you today?
Anogar: Hi there Nastassja.
Anogar: I'm looking at this item:
Anogar: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819115005
Anogar: and there seems to be some sort of mistake.
Nastassja: Let me take a look into that......one moment please.
Anogar: Every other retailer is selling it for under $250, yours must contain a typo.
Anogar: You are my favorite source though, it would be a pity to go elsewhere.
Nastassja: I do apologize but our marketing department comes up with the prices of the items. If you would like to send them an email, you can do so at marketing@newegg.com
Anogar: I actually spoke to someone a minute ago and they seemed to think it was an error.
Anogar: If you look here:
Anogar: http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=80858
Anogar: for example
Anogar: you'll see that they're selling it for only $219.
Anogar: Surely there must be some mistake.
Anogar: $219 vs. $389 is an awfully big difference.
Nastassja: The only thing I can suggest is for you to contact our marketing department
Anogar: Okay, thank you for your time.
Anogar: Have a lovely day.
Nastassja: Thank you for contacting us. I hope you have an Eggcellent day!

Not real helpful. :/

Time to email their marketing people.. and whatever higher up's emails you know.

Bothering the CSR people is just going to ruin their day and be a waste of your time. The marketing or execs don't care what the lower people have to deal with.

Eh, its been hard to find the 5000 anywhere in the past 2 weeks. Likely low supply for it and Im guessing most places were waiting to stock it after the AMD price drops.

Send those emails!

And also, post product reviews for their E6300's and E6400's stating the MSRP for those chips...see how long it takes for newegg to correct their "mistake".

Got tired of waiting for E6600 appearance at newegg with a low price (especially after seeing these prices for 6400), and bought OEM one from the local microcenter for 379 plus taxes.
I know, Microcenter is bad, but...

This is a plea to Gary Key- the all knowing Anandtech editor.
You guys at anandtech usully have the inside scoop as to whats going on in the tech world that none of us seem to be able to find out.
Will you please let us know what the hell is going on with conroe. Specifically the E6600 and up. Why all the promise of shipping dates and then.....nothing?
WTF is goin on with intel???????

It has to be a mistake... I mean, look at the difference between the two offered chips.

Only $10? There should be a larger gap between a E6300 & E6400, no?

Post the addresses and I will e-mail them.

marketing@newegg.com is what I saw in that chat log post by Anogar

They were just sent this letter:

I am sorry to say that your prices on these CPUs are outrageous and your description of the E6300 is substantially incorrect. You are asking $389 for a CPU that ZipZoomFly.com has been shipping for the last week for $219. For a company known and trusted for value and integrity you are miserably failing at both. The E6300 is also labeled as having a 4M L2 Cache when in reality it has only a 2M L2 Cache, which is what makes it an Allendale as opposed to a Conroe. I called your service department and my concerns and corrections were brushed aside; I was told to call Intel about your incorrect listing!
I have been a loyal customer of NewEgg for years because of their good prices and excellent treatment and appeal to their customers. Seeing as your prices are now astronomical and you are trying to bleed every cent possible out of your customers I will be purchasing anything priced within 10% at ZipZoomFly. If you correct your prices and offer the E6600 at a reasonable rate I may reconsider such a drastic change but these prices and poor service are an insult I will not soon forget.

Please forward this to any of your supervisors interested in retaining a loyal customer of six years who had before this day nothing but praise.

LOL those reviews will never get posted.

You're probably correct, but they will get read by a newegg employee at least, and if the employee(s) in charge of reviewing them see a high enough volume of complaints, then just maybe they will make the higher-ups aware of the issue.
