Two weeks could impact their servers, but would do absolutely nothing for hardware. Lead times on everything are far too long for manufacturing to be changed whatsoever.I don't have a PS4 but the amount of DOA console reviews on Amazon is disturbing. Given that at least one reviewer had problems it makes me wonder if Sony was better off delaying the launch until Black Friday.
or they got broken in shipping, which seems strange.
Well, my UPS guy yesterday literally ran up my lawn (jogging) with my PS4 to drop it off. He didn't seem to drop it at the front door, but maybe others do 🙂thats not strange at all
IGN has a page up too that centralizes all of the common PS4 problems. http://www.ign.com/wikis/playstation-4/PS4_Problems
I think it more of if you you have problems on your console then you are more likely to go online and search for things related to your problem that's why the results are skewed
I have broken hds by shaking while it was turned on but didn't realize they were that's fragile when off.I don't have one, but I agree that the online poll there on IGN is just asking to be skewed (just like online polls for XB1 problems will be stupidly trolled by anti-MS fanboys).
I do have a theory though, and both shipping AND Sony would have something to do with it. We'll know soon enough as well.
My theory is that because the thing is so small, and they (and MS) are not using solid-state hard drives, that the hard drive inside could be damaged by someone handling it really poorly in shipping/etc. I've worked on PCs for over 20 years, so I know how sensitive regular hard drives are. I had a buddy that worked at Best Buy, and a STACK of laptops got knocked off the pallet onto the concrete floor. In their boxes, but still a pretty solid fall. About half of them had the click of death when customers later opened them up to use them.
How we will know if this is the case, is for tech types to simply pop their new PS4s open and replace the stock hdd with a 500GB SSD to 750GB+ HDD. I've done the replacements on PS3s, and it wasn't super difficult, but I wonder how easy it will be for PS4s starting with no drive?

Last time I had an HD die it was spinning in a laptop and I hammered the top of the laptop with my fist. Not the first time, either, but it was the last time that HD spun :whiste:They shouldn't be nearly as fragile. Hard drives are fragile while spinning because with enough force, the arm can hit the platter and cause damage. However, if the drive is off or has been parked (through OS or drive firmware), the arm isn't even over the platter. However, it's still a mechanical device. Heck, hard drives get click of death even without being dropped or otherwise manhandled. 😛 I lost a drive that was in my HTPC to "the click of death", and it was never handled in a rough manner.
Mine was fine. Amazon actually packed it ok. Air packing on the bottom, top, and one side.
Amazon put the console box and then three games on top of it. The air packing was just over that and didn't do much.
Working great. I absolutely love the speed of the UI and how fast you can pop around the different apps and features. Totally kills the ps3. Resogun is really fun too. Contrast is a broken mess though lol.
