I seem to see a ridiculous amount of dragons in my game. I've already killed about 25 of them and I'm level 40.

They're ridiculously underpowered by the way. I've seen a guard take one out.

I'm lvl 40 and I've also seen tons of dragons, BUT they still kick my ass. I usually end up cheesing the fight by hiding behind a rock and peeking every couple seconds to shoot an arrow until they die.

What type of character are you playing? I'm only level 18 or so but I don't have any problems with the dragons I've come across so far. In fact I just face them and hack away with my sword till they die. I basically ignore their breath attacks and heal in between a bit. I'm playing a single handed sword / shield character. But I've been careful to level my one hand skill before everything else.

As soon as I read about these I was thinking: great, Oblivion Gates that chase you.

I just started the game, so I'm looking forward to my first dragon fight, but I'm also expecting the experience of closing a gate, going to town, coming out of town a few hours later, and finding another gate.

Btw, I'm just starting to read back over this thread, and I'm sure this has been discussed to death, but the interface... meh. I really don't think they improved things here, but I'll give it a little longer. No numbered hotkeys for favorites? No paper doll view of my character? I hope someone will tell me I've overlooked how to get to these features. As for the style of the interface... bah. Thanks for the shattered immersion. I hope someone mods this soon.

I don't remember any of the dragon battles being that challenging. Seems after the first few, I would just swing away with my sword. The only hard ones was when the patch broke resists.

Is there a mod to remove or enlarge the amount to carry in inventory? It's always bugged me in Bethesda games.

i jsut did a search on skyrim nexus and everything is increasing the amount of carry get you get per stamina point at each level. However it doesn't apply retroactively.

Just FYI this game is pure crack. When I think I'm 'blegh' with it, I put it down, come back a week later, and its just as engrossing. Why is doing random dungeons so enjoyable? I think the atmosphere in the dungeons is also very well done, and lends to the game being so enjoyable to just dungeon crall

SkyUI makes a good first attempt for what they cover.

But yes the interface is garbage........

There is a good article that explains exactly what is wrong with the game...its somewhere between page 40-55...and I commented about it lol.

Finally got around to installing the script extender and the FPS-increasing mod.

Before hand, I had just started to notice some slight slowdowns when moving the camera quickly in cities. I suspect the ENB Series and new FXAA profile I installed were the cause of that, as before it was buttery smooth everywhere, all the time.

The FPS mod made it all completely smooth again. I didn't gather any actual numbers, before or after, so I can't say for sure how much effect it had. There are enough reports out showing the actual effects though. I can only offer sketchy anecdotal at best.

I'll be installing SkyUI soon. I'm not sure how much I'll like it. I did mess around with q-something inventory earlier. Overall I liked the idea, but generally I found I had gotten rather used to using the keyboard for just about everything, and changing the categories from vertical to horizontal threw me off. Also when selling to vendors I was constantly looking at the value of the item and thinking it was the sell price. I know SkyUI uses horizontal categories as well, but if it is nice enough maybe I'll get used to it.

I keep finding more things about the interface that just leave me shaking my head, like not being able to accept or turn down quests. I must be missing something there. How could they just make you auto-grab any quest that someone talks to you about?

Eh, I don't think that was a bad decision on their part, and besides, some quests you can choose to accept or turn down. Generally if you have the option to accept it, you also have the ability to tell them to sod off. As you rarely agree to complete any of the quests you are given, the journal is mostly a list of paying jobs, rather than a list of commitments you have made - and it makes sense that you would keep such a list.

I look at the journal as mostly a list of opportunities, rather than a list of things I need to do. Nothing, not even annoying, immersion breaking reminders is ever forced on you for choosing not to complete a quest.

I guess that's a valid way to look at it. Is there any significance to the fact that some quests are listed under misc. while others are listed above in larger type, like the larger ones are main quests or something?

The game, by the way, is a triumph. Minor complaints aside... I just finished my first real in-depth play session, and it's amazing. The best Elder Scrolls yet by a long shot. I can't get over the world. Just took the walk up the river valley to Iversread. Gorgeous, and smooth as butter on max settings on my 560 ti. I love all the side conversations going on in the towns, although it's gotten out of hand once or twice. I also loved running into mobs that weren't either aggro or docile. Some giants waved me off by beating their clubs and waving them over their heads, and a nest of necros shouted at me to be off. Awesome :).

Open favorites menu (press Q) then hover over an item and press a hotkey (from 1-8), and BAM.

I'm also annoyed by the lack of paper doll. Waiting for a good mod to take care of this.

alright...got Skyrim in. I'm trying to find a sweet spot in terms of performance (rig in sig). So far I hit pretty decent frame rates at 8AA/16AF/FXAA @ 1080 on my CF RIG without any hiccups so far :O

Its funny cuz the stripped down interface clearly left more than enough room for your avatar, especially on a widescreen display and since this game was clearly designed for the console gamer......

No biggie, I know its even more dumbed down than Oblivion but the truth is I had loads of fun playing this game and it was about 20 hours before I noticed I didnt have Strength, Dexterity, or Constitution. Nor did my brain immediately absorb the fact that we skipped answering questions about how I would feel if I saw a kitten get smashed by a child and would I:
A: Scold the child
B: Observe without disturbing
or
C: Join him and offer opinions on the best rock for the job.

I got that warm fuzzy, you know the one (some of you anyway) when you first step into a new world thats wide open for your explanation, and I forgot all about what was supposed to be there and just started enjoying myself. Havent done that in a while. It was nice.

Is RavenSeals mod pack still the way to go? I see Bethseda released their own 4gb mod, but RavenSeal is still packing the community mod.

In the console try

Player.setav carryweight 10000
(or some ridiculously large value)

You may need to change it every time you level up.

It is a decent starting point, and to be honest I don't recall exactly what is in there, but you should go visit Skyrim Nexus yourself from time to time. If you have a more powerful computer, you'll probably want more graphic and texture mods than in RavenSeal's pack, and as you go through the game you may find yourself wishing for... something. And you just might find whatever it is over at Skyrim Nexus.

Personally I couldn't stand any of the available unenchanted robe options for my mage. There really is nothing good, at all. So I added a mod called Archmage Crafting (I disabled the enchanted crafting component). This allows me to craft unenchanted versions of all the various robes in Skyrim. I think it may also add separate hoods for some of the hooded robes, so you aren't forced to give up an entire slot just to have a particular look.

I don't think he's updated it in several weeks.

At this point most mods, especially texture overhaul type mods, are really WIPs that are being constantly updated. Just take the list of mods that he included and find them on Skyrim Nexus. Texture mods are easy to install.

I've put in 11.5hrs since Saturday. Too damn much already but it's felt like I've done so little. I'm level 11 now. I was getting my ass kicked without a companion. It makes it a lot easier to have one. Definitely still enjoying the game. Voice acting is much improved from their earlier games but still nothing to write home about.

Pretty standard. I was getting my ass kicked by dragons up until level 55-ish. I'm level 62-ish and can now stand infront of ancient dragons and proceed to rape them quickly; they still kill me if they bite 3 times though.
