Hmm I had a longer than usual stable session on 1.3. But then after that I got 3 or 4 CTDs in a row after launching the game again, very hard to say if it's more stable or not. I still have missing textures and purple textures but they no longer seem to mean an imminent crash.
God damn it. In Steam, I had Skyrim set to "do not automatically update" after that 1.2 disaster. I just got home, fired up Steam, and a couple seconds later "Skyrim has been updated." Wha...?

i've had more CTD than EVER today, mashing F5 like crazy. About to take more than 10 steps? F5. About to fast travel? F5. About to open a door? F5. About to look at the map? F5.
So I've been trying to figure out how to buy the Riften house all game, and I finally decided to google it. Apparently it starts by talking to an argonian about skooma. I remember that person getting killed by a dragon, because it said that I failed that quest right after.
So basically I'm screwed and there's no way I can get the house.

Ya, those dragon in-town attacks are stupid and annoying. Luckily, I'm so damn cynical that I almost knew something would get screwed up if an NPC died, so every time they attack, I make sure they don't kill anyone but guards.
So I'm power-leveling my magic skills on my fighter. Magic is fun and pretty!
Anyone getting missing faces? It's creepy. I can see their teeth and eyes but no face. D: Lot's of other missing textures too. AHHHHhh I love the game but god damn is it buggy as shit. I should run the game using the LAA patch I suppose but so far saving every 2 mins has gotten me by. Hope they get their own LAA patch out soon and hope it actually helps me.
anyone know if you can sell steam accounts (esp on the FS/FT forum)? i am a fucking retard and bought skyrim and decided to not keep my newest build so i'm out $60. Or a steam refund would be really great.

No never installed any. I'm talking textures that just fail to load. You can see through the world. People missing faces, floor gone, walls gone etc... And of course the purple textures.

I'm going to hold off for a bit till they release their own LAA patch. The game is so unstable right now for me that adding mods will likely only fuck it up more. But thanks I'll keep that in mind.

Dude, are you sure your computer is stable? I have similar build as the pc in your sig. My pc is i7 970 on Gigabyte x58a-ud5, 24gb (4x6), ATI 6970, on Apple Cinema 30 inch.
Originally I had quite a lot of CTD with Skyrim, but then I found out it's because of I enabled xmp profile in my mobo, and it made my memory very unstable. Once I disable xmp and manually set the memory timing, I have very little problem with skyrim.
Yeah CTD happens sometime, but it's like once in 5~6 days and I play ~5 hrs daily. I just recently updated to 1.3, still haven't have a CTD yet.
Sure your memory timing setup is okay? seeing that you have 2 different set of memory.
I'm also crashing very infrequently now since all the patches have rolled out with many mods and textures installed. I used to crash 10 times in 4 hours of gameplay, now maybe once in 6 hours (on Fast Travel or zone).
Which reminds me: anyone else still having negative CF scaling issues? I am, but I realized I uninstalled Win7 SP1 to troubleshoot other crashing/lockup issues and never reinstalled it. I downloaded a crap load of updates for Windows and will check to see if CF scales correctly when I get home.

I've tried: 11.11a, b and c, several CAPs and RadeonPro (trying almost every preset gaming profile, including Oblivion) and nothing has helped. I've been getting 25% better frame rates running off a single card since I started playing the game. All the while, I see both my cards using at most 50%.
I'm thinking I'll have to reinstall everything all over again...hopefully not including my OS just to fix this. The game plays okay with 1 card, but having my framerates drop below 35 is somewhat aggravating when I have another sitting there doing nothing in my machine.

That better not be the case since I just did a fresh install a little more than 2 months ago. I'm not one for wiping my system more than once a year (since there are several things I like to tweak and getting everything running just the way I like it is easier said than done).
Just finished the main quest. The story is really underwhelming.
I can't decide how impressed or unimpressed I am with Skyrim. No game I've played had this much of immersion and beautiful open static world.
But storyline and NPCs just suck so much. I didn't care about any of the one-liner characters or the lacklaster ending.
Even 20 year old games like Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy III got me staring at the screen in awe with their amazing character development (No it's not nostalgia, I played them again few yrs ago).
Characters suck.
The final boss was killing another dragon (exact same AI) that you've done 20 times over.
Quests offer no excitement because you don't get any truly rewarding items. Why? Smithing gets you the top of the game. Game mechanic is boring. If you are warrior, you are shield-punting + slashing all game from level 1 to 30. Gets fucking boring.
Same for Mage- Summon 1 pet, cast your DPS.
It's bit better for thief as you can actively sneak stab or sneak arrow. More fun for sure.
Beautiful game world = A++++
Game Mechanic = C
Story = C
Bugs = C
Not a perfect game by ANY means, far far from it. I've had numerous CTDs, something I've never dealt with playing Deus Ex HE or Half Life 2. Also quests get bugged & stuck easily. For those 'casual' gamers who can't think to google, what are they supposed to do?

Are you using the 4gb .exe file? That greatly helped my game as it seems to get more unstable the longer I played it. Haven't seen those texture issues in awhile nor a crash on the 4gb. The 4gb exe won't modify anything in your game folder so you can use it or not on the fly.
