After a 4 month drought, it's time for the official NASCAR Sprint Cup season to restart. Watching the preliminary wreckfest... err... races, it should be an interesting race to watch!

I'm curious if Danica Patrick is actually going to finish this one with her car in one piece. For all the hype they're making over her, she doesn't seem to drive in a pack all that well.

I'm also curious if the Busch brothers can actually finish a cup race without pissing off a bunch of drivers.

Any thoughts, besides the obvious "NASCAR is boring, all they do is drive in a circle, blah blah blah..." comments that we seem to get every year?
 
Anyone local to Daytona want to comment on the weather?

National weather commentators seem to be predicting a 70% chance of rain.
 
To be fair to Patrick in the Busch race she was taken out from behind and she didn't bitch about it afterward which is something new for her. In Indy cars she constantly blatted, pissed, and moaned about everything. For someone who only won one IRL race (Japan) she never really had a leg to stand on. She has talent but whether her driving talent supersedes her ability to slut-it-up remains to be seen. She is the perfect example of a woman who wants to be taken seriously as a driver while posing spread-eagle on the hood.

And the weather could definitely be a factor. Unlike years ago Daytona has lights now so I think regardless of the weather the race will get in.

I'm worried that the weather is going to cause the Daytona 500 to get rain delayed to the point where it will be on the same time as the Oscars... the other thing I wanted to see on TV today.

Not in interviews but in the in car audio she did everything but cuss his mother. I'm perfectly OK with it, shows how serious she is about it.

For the 500 I'm hoping for a Mark Martin Cinderella story.

Get it out of the way so when they get it dry they can go racing and hopefully get it finished before midnight. Weather tommorrow looks even worse and the last thing they want to go is run the biggest race of the year on a Tuesday.
 
Hah, too bad I didn't have good data coverage on my phone...I'm in Daytona working the event and boy what a day. Been back at the hotel for a few hours now, but the weather really killed things today. I had 2 days of good weather, 2 days of this cooler stuff. I wish the order was switched since I actually had time to enjoy it yesterday and today.

I'll be back in Daytona for Bike Week...should be interesting.

Yeah, sucks about the weather, hopefully tomorrow will be a good race (and maybe the rain will hold off).

Sucky, rainy, cool. problem tomorrow looks like more of the same, just a few degrees warmer. Saving grace is I've got a pot roast getting ready to come out of the oven.. 🙂
