The Ryan thing was totally unexpected, but I had wondered why they had Karen say that Pam was a b**** in that one scene. It seemed kind of out of place. Now it looks like they may have been setting up things for next season when there's going to be a lot of friction between the two of them in the office with Jim. I bet they're going to make Karen the bad guy, trying to break up Jim and Pam if they get together, or keeping them from getting together at all.

I can't wait to see Ryan as Michael's boss. :D

Or did Jim leave NY thinking Karen had the job? He did come back alone.
Also... Ryan may have been dreaming about getting the job.

Pam's note f*&ked Jim up so bad that he thought he had no chance at the job. That coupled with the flashbacks to the beach had him thinking about his true feeling for Pam. He probably just assumed that Karen would get the job then.

So like you said, he comes back assuming that Karen would get the job. That leaves him free to move on with Pam.

But then Karen is gonna come back and screw things up. This is gonna be a fun fourth season :D

Meredith: I would never do that. Waste of money. In my experience, guys are way more attracted to the back of you than in the front.

Basically that entire scene when Jan leaves Michael's office to get a cup of water was the best part of the finale. Pam and Jim's little interaction was great.

The worst part of great season finale's are having to wait for next season. How I Met Your Mother and The Office are the two greatest comedies on TV right now.

Yep. I love how they refer back to past episodes. I think the Office Olympics was like the 2nd or 3rd episode of season 2.

I haven't watched the last ep yet as I DVR just about everything and watch it a day or so later, but I was doing a little flipping around before going to bed and went by NBC to see Michael in his office copping a nice feel on Jan's rack. Can't wait to get the story behind that.

"Why did you get back together with her?"
"Well Pam, your reasons were good, but hers were bigger."

Man, I love season finales. I love how this episode kind of echoed the last episode from the UK version of the Office.

I can't wait to see more of Jan next season. :p (starts in September)

edit: I hope Jenna Fischer is alright!

Here's a theory making its way around some Office discussions: Ryan did not get the NY job. Karen got it and Ryan is going to be her assistant since Jan's boy quit when she was fired.

Nah, Karen didn't get the job. Her going to NY would have been just made it too easy for Pam and Jim to get together. Ryan being Michael's boss is going to be funny though, Ryan's a smart guy but Michael is going to keep bringing up that he's never made a sale and almost burned down the whole office. Plus the Ryan and Kelly breakup is going to be great. This was a great ending to Season 3, I'm really looking forward to the next one, so many good story lines!

Pam/Jim/Karen - Although did Jim ever really have feelings for Karen? That's really what makes this less believable. Plus, Karen never gets any funny bits, she's always too serious or just trying to get Jim's attention away from Pam.

Ryan/Michael - From temp to boss, lots of potential for this.

Michael/Jan - I wonder how much Jan is going to be part of Season 4, I could see them writing her out.

Ryan/Kelly - Probably some minor stuff, although since both Ryan and Kelly are involved with writing the show, this might get fleshed out more.

They seemed to have changed the Jan character or the past half season or so. At one time she was almost embarrassed to be dating Michael, and now she got surgery to get Michael back. The writers seemed to morph her into someone who is as dysfunctional as Michael, and thus perfect for him. I think there's at least a whole season of their relationship, especially with her no longer having her job. It seemed weird that she would drive so often to PA, so the writers had her fired because of it. Brilliant, and now she can randomly drop by the office with hilarious results.

:D

Sorry I disagree. How does an emotional note make someone think they have no chance at a job. The two are not related. If you are claiming the note made him want to withdraw his candidacy because he didn't want to leave Scranton, then you're right.

I totally agree. Even at the bonfire she gave Pam a dirty look during Pam's speech/confession. Pam didn't say anything like "break up with Karen for me." She just said she missed her best friend. Jim and Pam were friends before Karen came along.

RE: Ryan - How many of you were like me and scrambled to search deep within your Office knowledge to figure out who has a MBA when David mentioned? It was my chance to figure out what they were about to show before they did, but I failed :(

Edit: I meant to say "note" not "job"

Michael:I'm up here all the time and I know everybody here.
Jim: Ok, who's that?
Michael: That... is... Beardy.
Jim: Beardy? I'm going to go introduce myself.
Michael: No, no no. That's not his real name. That's just what I call him.

I can totally see how Karen thinks Pam is a bitch, it's a pretty darn accurate portrayal of a woman's reaction when they feel threatened :p I think that Pam's note made Jim change his answer when the CFO guy asked him about whether he could stay in NY long term.

What an season finale!!!! i didn't think they could match last season's finale with the Jim/Pam kiss, but last night's episode was BRILLIANT!!!

Jim seeing the gold medal that Pam made (BTW, did anyone else notice that Karen had asked Pam to make the copies of the sales figures for Jim and Karen? Karen screwed herself!)

Jim coming in during Pam's camera interview was a goosebump moment :D Watching Pam unable to hide her happiness and smile, i KNOW that everyone here had cracked a grin from ear to ear, too.

Did anyone else think that Andy Bernard had gotten the job? I was waiting for David Wallace to go, "well, it's good to have a Cornell grad on board", LOL.

I was hoping to see more of Kevin's Pam vs Karen project :p

I FREAKIN' LOVE THIS SHOW!!
