The OEM version of W2K doesn't come w/the manual. Can I DL it somewhere?

AFAIK, the OEM version of W2K comes in an envelope with the CD inside and the S/N stamped on the envelope, right? No manual, right?

I want the manual. Even I could figure out Win98 (I did, eventually ) but no way I want to attempt W2K "flying by the seat of my pants" Can I DL the manual somewhere? I hope this isn't a "lockable" thread...I'm not asking about copying software or anything like that..... Thanks.

Do you have the oem copy already? The oem copy's of Win98 and WinME we get for our customers always had manuals with them, even if they were pretty poor.

Win2k may not though. Could be an attempt to get you to buy a book on it (there are some good ones out there)

Some of the stuff is pretty well hidden, especially if you're used to Win98. I bought a book on Wn2k Server (actually my boss bought it for me) and found it useful.

Do you have just win2k pro? If so, don't buy one for server, as it will be chock full of useful info (you'll never need ). I think mine is published by Sams (not the store), it's hardcover and HUGE, but like I said, it's for Server. Try amazon.com, they have some good ones.

Online help (hit F1 at desktop or access from Start menu) isn't half-bad for basic issues...

Good choice moving to Win2k. I got sick of my Win98 installs crapping out after a few months requiring a format, not to mention rebooting once every couple days. It's once every couple weeks with Win2k.

Sure was a pain in the ass getting my aureal vortex 2 sound card working(Aureal is a dead company, and they never had official win2k drivers), but I eventually did thanks to WPCREDIT. Awesome program. It also let me set 4-way memory interleaving within Windows.

The pamphlets that pass for software manuals these days aren't worth worrying about. Go to your local book store and take a look at all the Win2k books on the shelves. Find one that you like, write down its title and author and buy it from Amazon.

Isn't 4-way interleaving set in the bios? It is on my Abit KT7R mobo. I'm curious as to what you mean.

Is there a difference between &quot;OEM&quot; and &quot;DSP-OEM&quot;? What does the DSP mean? Darn different etailers all have their own &quot;lingo&quot;.

On my mobo (Asus P3V4X) it's only enabled if you use the preset memory settings. If you want to customize anything, 4-way is turned off.

DSP is another name for OEM. I don't know why they bother with it anymore.
