anyone remember reading The Odyssey?

I haven't read since way back in high school and I have this craving to ready the full story again since I barely remember any details from it

So I got this book but I am a bit confused if I have the right one... It starts off first chapter talking about Odysseus' son and how Odysseus was lost at sea. It even mentions his sailor dying from the Cyclops and other key parts of the story I remember. And the second chapter is talking about the son sailing abroad for news of his father...

Do I have the wrong book? Is this like a sequel to the Odyssey or did it always start out like this and it starts going into Odysseus' tales later? It just seems like it's spoiling some of the later details and I dont remember the story starting out like this but again- it's been a long time and I didnt pay very close attention at the time :)

Keep in mind that the Greeks were all well aware of the story of Odysseus, there had been many tales about him. The point of the book wasn't necessarily the plot, but how it was told.

Velly intellesting. I suppose it makes sense that there weren't so many new novels, as 'twere, but rather mostly compiling of pre-existing oral stories.
