The Obligatory Cell Phone question- TEXAS

Anybody reccomend a service and a phone for in and around Austin, TX?
I looking for the following:
1. moderate minutes, I don't talk too much, lets say at least above 1000
2. NO VOICESTREAM...thats who I had, and they are awful, at least in my neck of the woods
3. instant messaging (AIM) would be cool, but not necessary
4. a neato, compact phone
5. coverage in the major TX citites is a must, all of TX would be great.....don't really care about the rest of the planet as far as my cell phone goes

Any advice/comments would be greatly appreciated =)

i'm with sprint, works pretty darn well except for at football games. i don't expect anyone's phones to work at football games, though.

I'm in Texas (near D/FW) and I've got Cingular- I love it! Definitly worth checking out. I know tons of people who use it and all are happy. No qualms. I've got great reception more times than not, and a nice Nokia phone (5165, but it's a year old now).

I use Sprint. Got a great deal through work so the price is really good.

Another vote for Cingular. Have a company supplied Nokia cell phone.

Works great around Austin. Lose some of the signal out by Dripping Springs. Other than that, they are OK. Don't know if they have IM. However, one of our analysts formerly worked for Cingular so I'll ask him.
