This is kind of scary. I am impressed that for once the left is actually trying to differentiate itself from the right in a meaningful way.

http://www.nationalreview.com/corne...urbs-you-have-just-been-annexed-stanley-kurtz''

The HUD has a roughly $50 billion budget. They are trying to leverage that money to get suburbs to build low income housing at the expense of the people in the suburbs who actually work for a living. Why the heck would well-to-do fully-employed suburbs want to bring in a bunch of lazy ass disability and welfare kings and queens who dont work, will never work, and will just bring crime and poverty into the community? Screw that. There is a reason for urban flight. To get the hell away from a bunch of lazy good for nothings before they find a way to screw you. But Obama wants to shove em up your butt and make you pay for it. Welcome to the Obamazones!

The linked story and subsequent commentary of the OP is so riddled with factual flaws and hyperbolic rhetoric that a sane, rational response is basically impossible. It's just a lot of frothing at the mouth.

The author's name was familiar so I looked him up…among his other interesting positions he has repeatedly suggested that gay marriage will destroy american society.

OP might as well get it over with and just start linking to Alex Jones videos.

"Late Night Obama Food"

¿Cómo se dice late night Obama food?
How do you say late night Obama food?
Something hot to put you in the mood
In the mood for late night Obama food
In the mood for late night Obama food
In the mood for late night Obama food
YEAH!

I'm in the mood
Gimme gimme gimme processed food
'Cos I'm living in the city
And I gotta eat something
Licking finger good looking good
Like I knew it would
'Cos I'm living in the city
And I gotta eat something

And I don't care how it makes me feel
All I gotta have is a combo meal
A number two
A number five
A number three
Another number one
It tastes like Thomas Jefferson

¿Cómo se dice late night pizza co?
How do you say late night pizza co?
(Something to which to end the day)
You decide on late night pizza co
Make the call to late night pizza co
You receive the late night pizza co
And you eat the late night pizza co

We are desperate
We'll eat anything they put inside a box
(We are snake bit)
Corporation food fucking rocks

¿Cómo se dice lack of discipline?
How do you say lack of discipline?
¿Cómo se dice lack of discipline?
How do you say lack of discipline?

We are starving
But we're eating more than we ever did before
We are barfing
With no idea what vegetables are for
We are dancing on the greasy floor
We are prisoners of our own war
Baby come with me
We could eat for free
Original recipe
Happy New Year
Now shut up!

Urban flight is now poor people leaving expensive gentrifying cities for the suburbs.

It is easier to translate this to:
"Oh no, non-white people could move somewhere near me! How can this be stopped?"

You really believe that black people living in the suburbs are in favor of this?

A smarter man might believe there is a reason that black people move to the suburbs beyond wanting to pay twice as much for a house with triple the commute time.

DeathPanels™ are on the march again, folks!

I urge you all to not answer your doors when the Hispanic pre-teens with calves the size of cantaloupes, trained by ISIS, employed by Agenda21, and innoculated with ebola come a'knockin' on your doors to take away your guns before forcing you into FEMA camps to get gay married.

I just got word over my left back crown molar from Glenn Beck and Alex Jones that they're starting deployment tonight. I also got word that you should invest in gold - not bullion or ETFs, but in over-priced gold coins, because hyperinflation is right around the corner, just as it has been for the past 7 years.

Now is the time to panic.

And as always: Benghazi.

Get in the Zone! You can have a free Obamaphone!

Maybe part of the solution is for wealthy suburbs to simply stop accepting HUD funding.

Haven't read the link but if any town is actually even smoking a bowl level contemplating working towards lower income housing happening in their town or area, I'd just invite them to take a tour of Chicago's fine southern suburbs to see what happens to nice communities when you start polluting them. There is no faster way to turn your town into a shithole than to start down that road...

Better to bus them somewhere else, or make good use of them ala soylent green, of course.

Personally don't care as long as they're not in my town, county, or area. One would have to be a retard of epic proportions to encourage that in any way if they care about the appearance or property values around them. Again, as we've seen many many many times in Chicago's southern suburbs. For those who have lived, and/or are living it, there simply is no debate on this.

I live next to section 8 housing. Nicest and newest apartments in the area, by far, and they just got updated double pane windows for energy efficiency. To rent similar one would be $2K/month. Houses across the street are $1.5M on Trulia. Average household income in our block is like $30K, across the street, it's $250K.
Silicon Valley for ya :)

Polluting "Chicago's fine southern suburbs" with what?

And the south side of Chicago has always been known as a shit hole.

Just an FYI, as a broad rule suburban housing is consiterably cheaper than city housing for equivalent places.

Well, now that the system of the Jerb Creators! is creating more low income families, it's obvious that they need housing.

I understand why the Rentiers in posh suburbs would rather not deal directly with the unintended consequences of their efforts but I don't understand why urban residents should carry that load for them.

I also think that a great deal of poverty has to do with environment & expectation. What sort of world view do kids get raised in places where everybody is poor? What sort of education?

How does that serve the great right wing canard of equal opportunity?

There's a lot of people being pushed out of Seattle right now. Rent hikes that basically are evictions.
Free market. Rich young people want to live in the cities and are willing to pay for it. Working poors can move out to suburbs and commute.

Basically with incoming people who don't share, via their actions, the same values as the people already in those suburbs. When you from a nice suburb (where people chose to live because they didn't want to live by people who by their actions wanted to live in a shithole) to having people from these shitholes move in and then start the sad cycle of fucking up the town they just moved to, that's polluting it. Harvey didn't use to be a shithole. Chicago Heights didn't use to be a shithole. Look at the far south suburbs of Richton Park, University Park, Park Forest, Matteson, etc.

And the south side of Chicago has always been known as a shit hole.

Of Chicago but not of the south suburbs. That's my point: When migration of people who are from shitholes haplens into nice places, that's great for the people moving to those nice places. It's great for the Politician getting those votes and kickbacks. It's great for the community organizer getting that gravy and clout behind the scenes. Who it's not good for is the town being polluted with people who are net going to drag it down. For anyone whose been living in the southern suburbs for any length of time, this is water is wet obvious.

TLDR:

Poor people should be in ghettos where they belong?
