Thanks for posting this. I used to check the oatmeal somewhat regularly, though not recently. Probably would have missed this.

As always, I enjoy his work, nice mix of humor and seriousness. I was literally laughing at the runner with the beefy legs asking women for some trailmix.

I also find his calorie viewpoint interesting, part of the reason he runs is so he can eat like shit. Out of curiosity, over long term even if you maintain a healthy weight and exercise, is diet still important to your well being? I'd imagine so, but if he's running ultra marathons and what not I can't really talk as he's healthier than me. Just wondering as I lean towards moderating what I eat so I don't have to run 100 miles a week.

That was awesome, thanks for posting. I don't run nearly the distances that he does but I run for most of the same reasons.

Yes and no. In general your weight is a good guide. If you're gaining weight, you're eating too much and not exercising enough. However, blood pressure and cholesterol are also vital to your long term health, and can get bad despite maintaining your body weight. Unlikely with exercise, but may happen if you choose the wrong foods.

Great read

Perfect. I laughed at so much of that comic, and at the same time I was nodding in affirmation.
