The Nintendo DS2 is real and is in developer's hands

CVG garnered an inside source that revealed to them that the rumored Nintendo DS2 is currently in developer's hands. If true, the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in June is shaping up to be very exciting.

CVG's source is impressed with the hardware and can confirm that the DS2 features motion-sensing but not to what extent. The hardware is by no means finalized and only the first iteration is in developer's hands for feedback.

"It's genuinely the best thing I think I've ever worked with," he said. "I can tell you that it's got a 'tilt' function that's not dissimilar to iPhone, but does a lot more. We know that The Pokemon Company are getting special attention with it."

The Nintendo DSi features two cameras so there exists the possibility that one or more cameras could be used on the DS2 for basic motion sensing similar to the Playstation Eye Toy. We'll also be curious to see how Nintendo improves the security on the Nintendo DS2 since piracy seemingly runs rampant on the system.

Congrats to CVG on the excellent scoop.

Any information on media? I have no doubt it will include a DS slot, but what about the new games? Digital delivery or are they sticking with carts?

edit: me dumb, I see this is the only information so far. At any rate I'm excited to see what it is. I wouldn't mind DD as long as it can use any micro-SD card and no proprietary crap.

Does this mean there will actually be a Pokemon game that is somewhat different from the ones released so far and features more than GameBoy-level graphics and controls?

Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal was the last title that made any big changes. The others have been a small evolutions of it. I was disappointed with Diamond/Pearl.
