The next prospective employer who asks me my college GPA is getting smacked

Next week, I will graduate BS CompSci with an Econ Minor with an elapsed time of 2 years and 9 months while working full time in IT. Of the dozens of positions I have been considered for, only twice has anybody had the gaul to question my impecable, varied and robust work experience. The first one was a blowoff, but the second one put me 0.048889 below their minimum GPA and they were ready to offer me a junior executive position. This is a major worldwide financial firm.

I think I'm going to cry.

What's your GPA in your major? If higher (and I hope it is), you need to stress that. Stickt hat on your resume and forget your overall.

Company wide policy. Nobody gets hired with less than a 3.0.

And as far as great manager... this is their CIO. Fortune 100 company. I have some connections.

I hate it too 🙁

I'm right about where you are GPA-wise...I did a second, very time consuming activity while in college. Potentially screwed in looking at grad school--at least on the west coast, where the minimum GPA to apply is 3.0

He can't override a simple GPA requirement? Some connections you got there 😉

apparently not enough connections to wave the GPA requirement.

Or to, you know, do better in school. 😉

Do you speak any foreign language fluently?
Take it as your next class, since they are usually 5 unit classes.
It should boost your GPA.

hahahah 😀

Business major FTW.

They never asked for my gpa. I don't even have to put it on my resume anymore, since I'm no longer entry-level.

Its not on my resume either. I have a full page of bullet-proof, relevant work experience. I'm not getting hired entry level.

Yes it is BS but hey they got to filter people out somehow...🙁

Apply to companies that you pass their minimum requirement. I like to think they are more open minded 🙂 😛

<- 2:2 but most higher end company in England want a 2:1

Good luck dude

I bet your kicking your own ass now for not busting your ass freshman and sophomore years where it's so easy to rack up a 4.0 so you have room to slip in your tougher classes.

If he finished two degrees in 2.5 years, I doubt he had a very easy first and second year

You have a reading comprehension problem.

How do you not see how I busted my ass?

What part of 2 years and 9 months do you not understand? My freshman year was 4 months! I worked full time the whole way through! How did I not bust my ass?
