For the first time in over a decade, Italian sports car manufacturer Lamborghini will offer a second model line as of 2003. The completely new Lamborghini model, named Gallardo (pronounced GA-yardo), will be introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in March of next year.

The new Lamborghini takes its name from a famous fighting bull breed, selected since the 18th century by bull breeder Francisco Gallardo and then incorporated by Don Antonio Miura.

Fierce, robust black or grey the Gallardo bulls were renowned for their courage and also for their power and aggressiveness until the so-called last third of the Corrida.

The new Lamborghini Gallardo will be a mid-engined four-wheel drive sportscar in true Lamborghini tradition, powered by an all-new V10 cylinder Lamborghini engine with 5 liters of displacement and a stunning 500 hp. Figures that will guarantee an outstanding performance.

Power transmission will be through a 6-speed gearbox with a traditional gear shift lever or a new sequential e-gear with shift paddles at the steering-wheel.

Production of the all-new Lamborghini V 10 cylinder engine has already started on the newly built assembly line at Lamborghini's own engine facility at the Sant-Agata Bolognese plant.

Rumors have been circulating for some time that Volkswagen may make a bid to enter Formula 1 with one of its brands. Could this V10 be a prelude to something bigger? Time will tell...

No pics though :(

It's a highly camouflaged test mule. Why not wait until you see production ready model.

Yeah, the angular look, while impressive, will never be "breath taking" - while smooth and sexy lines make the 360 a benchmark in exterior design :)

You guys crack me up. You all know that if one of these things passed you in your Civics, you'd have to supress the instant boner you'd get at just the momentary thought of driving a $200k, 500 hp Italian bull.

Personally, i'm excited to see this thing. It's supposed to also be a 2 + 2 interior design, with more room than the Murcielago.

It only weights 1400kg's. That's about as much as your smallish family-sedan.
I just wish that Ferrari or Lamborghini would respond to the Mclaren F1. Oh right Ferrari has (Enzo). Well Lamborghini's are behind the times! Heck you might as well drop in a second row of seats and a trailer hitch on the back for the family outtings!

How has Lamborghini not responded to the McLaren? Diablo GTR ;) Just cuz it doesn't have the same $1mil pricetag, doesn't mean it's not a contender.

Would be nice with a bigger wing at the back, and some additions. Things like were found on the Diablo spoiler models, they were awsome.

Maybe the could squeeze a few more HPs out with some R-Type stickers stuck to the windows.

Actually, I love Lambos. I will own one before I die, it is one of my life goals.
