Thought you might like to see the next generation of tires.

They had a pair of these "Tweels" at the Philadelphia Car show.

Attached are actual photos of the new "Michelin Tweels."

This tire and wheel combination is airless and is scheduled to be out on the market in the near future.

The "Michelin Tweel" will be shown on their web-site later this Summer or early Fall.

The bad news for law enforcement is that spike strips will not work on these tires.

This is what great Research & Design will do and just think of the impact on existing technology:

no more air valves.......no more air compressors at gas stations.......no more repair kits.

I swear I saw this stuff some time last year. How far has it advanced now? Is it used in ANYthing?

Oh yea: wouldn't the vehicle sit a bit lower while stationary? And wouldn't a massive bump (e.g.: something like a big pothole) destroy the wheels?

I saw this a while ago in a press release from the Michelin site. The technology looks really promising, but too bad it looks fugly.

What ELSE could I look for?

People never label the damn threads properly. Its always, "OMG WTF HOLY SH!T CHECK THIS OUT!", which is made even worse by the dickless search engine in the forums.

Haha, well this was new to me, so in such a case, I usually don't shoot the reposter. :p

No, it's not all to do with that, it's to do with the age of the content, so all the threads are in the archives. There are 4 clearly labelled Tweel threads.
However the "dickless search engine" is the reason they only show up when you go to archives, so you're half right :p
