The Newsroom season 2 starts tonight on HBO. If you watched season 1, you'll be glad to see more. If you didn't see season 1, too bad for you. You missed out.

Can't wait for more Aaron Sorkin witty dialogue that is so great to hear and that you wish more people actually used.

Some people have a political beliefs problem with the show but as you pointed out the dialogue is fantastic and is very entertaining.

I'm concerned by the previews that this may jump the rails into crazy liberal-ville. I enjoy logical analysis and BS calling. I do not like it when both sides aren't given equal weight.

Season 1 was the first time I ever saw Sorkin be reasonably balanced. He made every effort to avoid the "all Republicans are evil" that colored his previous work and he went after the fringe elements of the party who are evil and who even real Republicans hate. I don't expect him to give both sides equal weight, this is Sorkin and he's clearly incapable of being completely fair, I just hope he keeps clearly drawing the line between moderate and intelligent Republicans and the Tea Party extremists.

And I don't like it when people are so fringe right-wing that the correct information is viewed as crazy liberal-ville.

Or just maybe, the liberal story is correct and doesn't need to be 'balanced'.

'Balance' is right-wing propaganda for the right to lie.

'Oh wait, that information that smoking it bad for you is totally one-side, we need balance by giving equal time to the side that says smoking is good for you!'

The first season of Newsroom was great on the issues. Thy made it 50% issues and 50% character relationship drama - which seems mostly a waste to me. But I suspect it greatly helps their ratings, especially with women who enjoy the 'people stories' a lot more, making the show far more acceptable to couples ot watch together.

Yeah, just keep drinking the Kool-Aid. They hand it out with the welfare checks and the unemployment checks and the tax bills that are all connected to the "liberal story".

Craig shut the fuck up, this isn't P&N I liked season 1 and look forward to season 2 but I heard there was a major shake up in the writing department...

Too bad - don't like it, criticize the person who brought up the attacks on liberals.

At least you're not alone in the bubble.

edit: ok fine, both of you shut the fuck up.

I hope there's a lot less of the almost vaudevillian overacting from Mac and Maggie and even Sloan sometimes this season. It isn't constant luckily but it really irritates me when it happens.

Also, the Jim/Pam dynamic is so tired and really takes me out of what is otherwise a well written and entertaining show. They don't need to pander to their audience with cookie-cutter romantic drama. Sort of amusing in a way considering the overall message of the program.

Ya, I wondered if Sorkin wanted to do the show on topics, and was told to add the romantic character story angle, and had to force it in, that's how it feels.

Like John Lennon's Double Fantasy, it feels like alternating 50% great and 50% not. (No offense to Yoko Ono, but she is a poster child for that sort of bad idea).

As others have pointed out Aaron Sorkin is biased but for some odd reason conservatives don't have as good writers...

this is shown not only by the lack of dramas that can match the dialogue of the Newsroom while having a conservative bent but also the failure of that half-hour comedy hour show that was supposed to be the answer to the Daily Show

I really liked Season 1, although I did feel that Sorkin struggled to find balance in showing some things. The reaction to a so-called conservative to someone carrying a pistol for protection for example was out of character. If I see someone carrying a pistol that is legal to do so, I have zero fucks to give, lol. I'm not really conservative or liberal, but that seemed off to me.

Okay. As far as I'm concerned, there's been more than enough of blondie's Sex and the City, boyfriend, roommate, Facebook woes. Send her to Africa and maybe we'll get something besides female drama going.

Exactly.

I like the acting, especially Daniels. The dialogue has its moments but a bit too silly at times.

It's good to see that poor kid from that Slumdog documetary doing well.

Needs more T&A.

yep, two episodes in to this new season and it's already 100% of the worst part of this show being featured. get back to the news please.
