I was going to say mean things to Adul for such a stupid post, but I won't. I don't know how they're naming the different models (it's changed at least once), but I wouldn't worry about it. If you're thinking of getting a Ti4600, get either the
Abit Siluro OTES, the
Asus 8420 Deluxe, or one of the
Albatron Turbo cards. All four cards (two choices of Albatron cards) have 8-layer extended PCBs, just like the Ti4600. Some of these (all of them?) are 8x AGP and use Tiny-BGA RAM (just like the 4600), and all of them use 3.3ns RAM (just like the 4600). However, they are all much cheaper than the 4600, and are 4200s. Every one of them can be overclocked to 4600 levels, so you will not suffer any performance losses. Just get a program like Rivatuner; it's extremely easy, and you'll save a lot of money.
I'd suggest going with the Albatron, as it is the cheapest ($183) with absolutely no loss to quality. I've heard that the OTES isn't that great of a cooler (better than average isn't great people), especially for the kind of sound its fan puts out. The Asus board is too expensive ($207) IMO. I forgot to mention that Asus has another board, the
Asus V9280S/TVD. It's much like the others, but has [what looks like] a few more features. It's even more pricey than its brother ($220), but it's worth the extra if you can use those features.
As for this 8x thing, just in case you don't know,
it doesn't make the slightest difference in any game currently out. I have yet to see any benchmarks that benefit over 5% from 8x, and that was in one bench in one game. I've seen more than one test that didn't show a single benchmark that increased by even 1% from being 8x instead of 4x. It's like the ATA specs; IDE hard drives barely saturate the ATA33 bus in most operations, so more isn't actually neccesary.
