The new school computers were shipped in today. :(

Pentium III computers. Every single one is an 800 MHz EB Pentium III. Guess they rejected my Athlon proposal. And worst of all, I'm going to be building them. I fell so dirty. I need to take a shower.

You don't understand. This is from Pentium 133s to Pentium III 800s! Kids are gonna say, "Wow, these are fast," and "These new Intel computers are awesome." They wouldn't know that equivantly clocked Athlons are faster. They wouldn't know that AMD Athlons are also cheaper. They would not know the facts, they just keep on thinking "Pentium is a synonym for processor." I'm going to confession Saturday, maybe I'll be clean on time for my birthday.

I doubt most kids at the school would be able to tell the difference between a P3 and an Athlon if it smacked them in the face. It is just some school computers, not high performance Unreal Tournament machines. Most people won't even care what kind of processor it is, all they will care about is that it takes less time to get their stuff done.

But my job is to inform the people of the evils of Intel! If I build and use Intel computers, then I am a hypocrite. And if not that, I'll have a hard ass time convincing people Athlons are better. Thank God we're only a small school.

Better yet: run rc5 on all of them at top priority level, and when kids ask why their programs run so slow, tell them because the processor was made by intel.


But really, man, this whole anti-intel thing of yours is out of hand. It's the SCHOOL's computers, and whether or not you like or dislike intel is irrelevant.

What big evils of Intel? Because they have built a solid reputation of making good reliable processors?

Just because A P3 800 runs a little slower than a TB 800, does that make it any less of a quality CPU?

Yea, seriously, AMD Junkie. So you like AMD desktop CPUs right now, and not without good reason. It's not a holy crusade. Intel started the whole x86 architecture in the first place (even if they have drug it out way too far)

Be happy you have x86 computers to work on. You could be at a Mac school like the one I attended, and be hearing conversations like this one I heard last year;

First kid: &quot;Wow, these new G4's are really fast.&quot;

I didn't bother to mention that the laptop I ordered ran at more than twice that.

Be happy that you have P3s. My school just got a shipment of...gah...iMacs. Why? They have iMovie. Great. Waste a few hundred dollars on an inferior computer just so the 12 kids who do video editing once or twice per year can use iMovie. :|

At least they have that awesome optical mouse...
