I saw this meme on imgur and chuckled, along with the most popular comment:
"They restarted my computer on me for an "urgent update" and what came up was their fancy new edge. Deleted the entire browser instantly."
But what I found funny about the new Edge was that - at least IMO - a big reason why Internet Explorer died was (especially on slower machines), you'd start up IE, then the rendered UI but blank web page would sit there for a bit, be unusable during this time, then after a while it would start rendering the page. The problem was made worse by idiotic OEMs deciding to throw in an additional home page tab by default which of course made IE take twice as long to become completely usable.
So (skipping pre-Chrome Edge for the purpose of this point) along comes EdgeChrome. What's the first thing it does when you first start it? It makes you wait. "Importing user account details... setting up... making you wait a bit longer...". Did MS learn nothing from the rise of the Google website? The reason why everyone switched to Google from AltaVista and whatever the hell else was that the Google website loaded much faster. Then the reason why Firefox and Chrome switched from showing a website by default as the home page to a local page with a search box was that IT LOADED QUICKER. What do MS browsers do for their default home page? Load annoying crap that takes longer. What do they do after a browser update? Change the home page setting back to their annoying crap.
Anyhoo, rant complete
