The new ICQ stores a users contact list on the ICQ server.. But is there a way to store the history remotely also? The history is very important to me..

That's a cool feature. Too bad ICQ is one of the worst examples of bloatware ever.
I remember way back when, when all it did was act as a way to message people. Now it insists on being your schizophrenic desktop nana, with all the calendars / notes / plugins / etc.

I ditched it back with 2000b and told everyone that I'm leaving for AIM and if they wanted to talk to me to switch. :p
I still think that at it's core, ICQ is the best messaging prog out there but I really wish they made a "lite" version. :)

There is a "lite" version, but why on earth would you want to use ICQ? It takes about 30 seconds to send and receive messages no matter what your internet connection is. Just use something like Trillian that has all the chat mediums in one. It's fast too.

Haha 30 secs to send are receive no matter what your connection is? Umm no, I've been using icq as long as I can remember, I also use aim, I'll admit that on occasion icq gets tied up with a message for a few seconds but generally they go right through, if yours is actually taking that long there is something wrong, if a IM program took 30 seconds to send/rec messages i'd use email instead.

Well you definatly have problems if it takes you 30 seconds to send a message.. Even if your just kidding..

Anyway, I know four people that use AIM, and three of which are Anandtech Forum members..

I know five people that use MSN, and they are from my school, they all use ICQ now..

I know not a single person that uses Yahoo! Messenger..

And I have 175 people in my contact list.. 50% of whom I talk to at least once a week, so you see.. ICQ is my only option. Besides, 2001b isnt really that bad..

So, anyone have an answer to my first question?
