1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.

General Use, gaming, Programming

2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread

400-500$ (Low budget, don't ask it's all around us).

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.

US of A

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc.

I am a Intel fanboy and NVIDIA fanboy, by family related influence
I prefer Wester Digital Or Maxtor

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.

Have a bunch Haven't sorted them yet most are very old ( I like new things).
Things I may have, Disk Drive, hard drive. Things I do Have, Monitors, mice, keyboards

So this means i am looking for the essentials, a good mother board case and memory and cables for my budget.

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.

Not much, new user - sorry

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.

At some point, information is appreciated

8. What resolution YOU plan on gaming with.

2-3 Monitors atleast 1280 1024
I have a SyncMaster914v old but very good and a dell screen.

9. WHEN do you plan to build it?

This summer

I am eager to learn about the inside and out of a computer I am a high school student planning on living a fathers dream, he built his own PCs

I mainly program but I building one would be a great experience

Is the 1-2 additional monitors part of the budget?

[edit] Unrelated but, that Samsung 914v is the exact model I have. All it does now is display my widgets: traffic, weather, calendar, and any data I need to see in real-time.

I have a plethora of monitors at my disposal but I have my two monitors I currently use (on my dell inspiron 530, with custom GPU nvidia 9500 GT) that i would easily switch to a dew pc (though im not suer about switching the graphics processor so I need ideas On a vieo card, I may buy another regular NVidia

I have 2 Dell monitors, an acer wide screen monitor, and my trusty samsung

The main parts of the budget need for the mother board a case and ram for 64 bit

Some things i have found and Liked

Going to need an OS included in the price or do you have an older disc you can utilize?

Also what types of games are you looking to play? RTS games tend to require more powerful processors while most other games do not.

Already have some stuff in mind but a bit more information would be handy. And when you say this summer, what month are we talking around roughly? Prices rise and fall all the time, sometimes parts go out of stock, etc. Planning too far into the future isn't always a great idea but there shouldn't be too much flux I would think.

Well I have a variety of OS's to choose from I believe that i will put my win 7 U on it so Ill need a processor that does nicely with that, and respectable ram. I prefer 64 bit but i guess its not terribly to have 32 bit.

I currently have games like GTA and ARMA which take a lot of CPU and RAM. I think that my video card is is ok with 1gb so IF you have idea on a graphics processor I would like it to be 1 gb or atleast 512 at the least. I am a gamer and an avid photoshoper.

Yea But I am trying to get a general product list I need I may even order now, I will be completing this project in Colorado (Not smart, static electricity so I will get anti static wrist band or whatever) So I will fly out there in about 2 1/2 months I think, week into July.

I don't know many PC parts vendors so I strongly prefer tiger direct. and Also the budget is a start; I would like to keep it around there but may possibly go higher if needed I'll work a little.

EDIT:
Heres a list of things that you can ignore from price as I know I have them for sure.

-OS
-Key Board/Mouse
-Speakers (Although I need new ones, my 7 or more years old labtec speakers are just fine).
-Monitors

And a list of Things i may have but I am not sure so I like suggestions.

-Hard drive(May have a 500g laying around here)
-Disk Drives

So That Leaves this list for Necessitys

-Power Supply
-Mother Board *
-Case *
-RAM (The brand I have always used has been PNY but will accept any good reliable RAM, 4 gb+).
-Hard Drive
-Disk Drives

*see my earlier post on the ideas I have
