The New Coke Light (AKA Diet Coke)

So I finally got around to buy the new Coke Light. It became first available in the Scandinavia, before rest of the world. It has "New refreshing taste" (it's supposedly tastes more like the regular Coke)... So I taste it... And it tastes exactly like the old Coke Light! What a ripoff! Well, there might be tiny change in the taste, but nothing to write home about. Had they not told about the "new taste" beforehand, I wouldn't have noticed a thing!

Oh well, I bought it just to find out that does it still taste like watered down Coke. It does.

That's why I like the good old Coke - it always stays the same. I think that, of course, they did add some new taste, but not to the extent that can turn Coke into smth different.

Nemesis77 -

This is totally off topic, but do most Finns consider themselves to be "Scandinavian"?
I have heard various opinions on the use of that term and 'Nordic'.
I was doing some reading here for some research other than the taste of New Coke. :)

You know, that is a VERY good question! And I can't give you a definite answer. But I'll try...

Finland isn't really part of Scandinavian peninsula (you know, that land mass that's stick out to the Baltic and Atlantic). Also, the language and genetic background of finns is different from other Nordic countries (In fact, finnish is completely different to just about every language in the world, excluding estonian and hungarian). So in that sense Finland is not part of Scandinavia. I guess the correct term would be that Finland is one of the Nordic countries, but it's not one of the Scandinavien countries.

So, in strict sense of the word, Finland is not part of Scandinavia. But that's just my opinion on the matter. There seems to be as much opinions on that matter as there are people making those opinions :).

Yes...seeing a bottle with Coca Cola Light on it was the first indication that things would be different in Ibiza :)

A question to all of you who have tasted the Coke sold in USA and in Europe. Do they taste different? Does the Coke in Europe taste like New Coke or Coke Classic? I never really figured out which Coke we have over here.

Dr. Pepper seems to mostly be a midwest thing for some reason. Pretty much everywhere I've gone outside the midwest didn't serve Dr. Pepper. In the midwest you can get Dr. Pepper at pretty much any resturaunt. Haven't checked around since I moved to CA, mainly because I kicked the Dr. Pepper addiciton. :)

BTW, why don't Pepsi and Coke make a 50/50 Diet drink? Half the calories of the regular drink and tastes much better than pure diet. I used to buy them and mix them all the time. Diet Pepsi with regular Coke works best. :)
