That thing is such a joke...

A couple of guys are smoking a joint in a bathroom stall..
Some undercover cop cmacks the door open and arrests them.
Then a message says something like "Don't smoke pot or you could get busted"

Have the anti-drug people pretty much given up on trying to convince us marijuuana is harmful ?

And now they have to resort to scare tactics or "becuase i said so" reasons..

Pathetic.

Just like back in the 60's when the government tried to get everyone to believe smoking pot will make you go blind. I am suprised they haven't brought that one back up yet.

at least its an honest commercial. Maybe the thought of going to jail when your 18 would be enough to deter some people from doing drugs.

Personally, I don't think pot is harmful, but then again, I don't want to be driving on the interstate with a bunch of stoners.

I don't want to be driving on the highway with a bunch of alcoholics. But banning alcohol was obviously not the answer. In fact, they were able to dramatically decrease the number of DUIs through education and enforecement, and not by banning booze. There is a lesson to be learned in that.

only a fool would light a joint up in a public bathroom stall.they deserved to be arrested.
but i do agree the commercial and the criminalization of marijuana are both absurd.

I saw one the other day that went along the lines of "this is the joint that Jack bought, this is the dealer that sold the joint that Jack bought, this is the drug lord that wiped out some nice family, blah blah." The drug lord is obviously Mexican/hispanic in origin. And I'm thinking "you fVcktards, you just damned your cause!" If marijuana were legalized, would I buy some skanky suspect weed off some Mexican guy, or would I grow my own or buy from Jack down the street?

Then there's the other one with two wasted pothead teens smokin' a bong in their dad's home office. One of the kids takes out a gun and says its not loaded, then proceeds to blow his friend's brains out with the *loaded* gun. What's the message here? Handguns in homes are okay, but handguns & pot = bad? How many over the counter drugs are banned by law enforcement or carry some sort of "do not operate heavy machinery" warning? Idiots... :|

Yeah, but that one was a ripoff of the older ones. There were only 3 good anti-drug commericials.

First was the classic "This is your brain on drugs, any questions?" It was so damn good they had to remake it.

But we can't forget "I'm not a chicken, you're a turkey!" with the two little kids in the locker room.

And the classic "Nobody wants to be a junkie when they grow up" And the guy dives into the empty swimming pool cause he's so doped.

what about the other recent one where the guy and girl are smoking up during a party, nd when the girl's "out of it", the guy starts unbuttoning her shirt, while she says "no, stop"

Not that I'm for legalizing marijuana, but these commercials are getting stupid.

They now have a commercial with two young boys in one of the boy's father's study. They talk for a while and at the end one of the boys has a gun.

Boy1: Hey look a this.
Boy2: Is it loaded?
Boy1: Nah

BAM!

end of commercial.

Now they link marijuana use to gun accidents. I'd like to see the stats on that one.

Also, one of the funnier lines in the commercial:

Boy2: Dude, your sister is hot.
Boy1: Don't go there man.

lol

I like the one where a girl and guy are smoking and smoking and smoking and eventually the girl is so stoned that she can't defend herself and the guy starts unbuttoning her shirt and when they pan out to their message all you hear is a faint "no" and the guy goes "shhhh"

Yup. I'm sure that if she'd been tanked up on 151 she'd have been much better able to defend herself. I'm also certain those kids with the gun wouldn't have screwed with it if they'd been drunk off their ass instead of stoned.

I'm not necessarily pro-pot, but I'm very anti-stupid.

I brought up that similar argument when thry were trying to link drug use to terrorism..

It's not the drug users supporting terrisom,, but the US governemnt through criminalization of drugs, therefore creating an underground black market..

You'd think there never was Prohibition or an Al Capone... has the governement totally forgotten that mistake ?

I think the government should make a commercial that has the head of the DEA say, "We just took all the drugs we confiscated and recycled it back to the drug dealers in the US, but added leathal ammounts of poison. You want to do drugs go ahead." Of course they whould have to do it. Bingo, drug war won. I'm either a genius or a scociopath. But thats my plan; plain, simplem, and effective.

You know, I can't tell if that's telling girls to be careful or telling guys getting girls stoned will help them get laid easier.

oh come on, i need links to see these.

the american anti drugs campagne is soooooo funny, but the only part of it i've really seen is the 'winners don't do drug's' on those old sega arcade machines

btw:i'm fron england, where we don't see any anti drug commercials on tv, just usefull awareness commercials including ones for being safe with fireworks (around bonfire night), ones to make people aware of planning escape roots there houses if they set on fire, and ones to warn people to stop drink driving around xmas
we get anti ciggie commercials though

Sociopath, sorry.

No one should ever not do something just because they are told that it is illegal or that they could be punished. That creates an immoral society, with punishment as the only deterrent to crime, the epitome of nanny-state. People should not do shomething wrong because they have the knowledge and the morality to understand that such a thing is wrong. They then don't do something that is wrong because they think that they might suffer personal punishment from an authority figure, but because they don't want that wrong thing to happen to them.
The don't-do-it-just-because-I-say-so method has already been proven to be bad parenting, why should we allow our government to use the same flawed technique in the "Drug War?"

My mom said i shouldn't touch the stove cause it was too hot. I didn't.
The don't-do-it-just-because-I-say-so method works if you have people who are obidient. I've never done alcohol or drugs (19 years old and in college), because i fell they are harmful.

The joy i get is that eventually the druggies will become chemically inbalenced and then they could never be happy again (even with drugs--legal and illegal). Take that druggies (just takes a while).

Moreover, if you need to get so smashed (by alcohol or drugs), that proves you simple to have fun doing not intoxicating acts. And with people (25 years and less) have no reason to get smashed to escape their "problems". I say to those people, "Your problems are not that bad, get tough you pussies and face the fire."

Amen brother.

Ha. Just remember, there is a line to how trivial their problems are.
