Yesterday he asked me what "multi-threaded" was when I brought it up in a meeting about software.

While he may not know what it is, he very well could have been testing you to see if you knew what it means. That being said, the guys is in his 50's and probably felt he had no reason to explain things to some "punk kid" in a meeting who was questioning his understanding of technology that may or may not bear any importance on the matter at hand.

We are trying to play a video across 8 monitors with a resolution of 6144x1360 it's an enormous video. I brought up the fact that the codec we're using is multithreaded to have it perform relatively well, and he asked "what is multi-threaded?"
