The neck of a german shepherd

I know I'm not supposed to but I took my dog running and she still sucks at it, prefering to sniff every damn thign she passes over rather tahn keeping a steady rhythym...

I basically set a length of leash but she keeps variating and it keeps tugging on her neck...i know that their necks are REAL tough, but what do you thin kshe seels...she kind of gets the message and periodically runs better, but I don't want to hurt her...

info?

She is 11months or a year old...i forget

She's probably getting progressively more pissed off at you and is going to bite your crotch one day.

I doubt your doing any harm. Dogs are pretty tough, tougher than you think. Unless your really going balistic, a tug here and there to let her know she is supposed to get up with you wont hurt anything.

my dog (chow/german shepherrd) rather get patted harder than soft. sometimes i kick her-not abusively-and she seems to go nuts with her tail wagging with 1,000lb of force. dunno. some dogs like it rough.

good to hear

dog knows what its doing. if it smells something worth getting tugged for, it'll do it. esp if its not been strictly leash trained. there are harness colar things that are like a normal collar with a second one around the chest behind the front legs. both connected with straps, spreads the force.
