The NEC Multisync LCD2180QX is an experimental LED LCD monitor I have talked about in the past on AT. We finally got a Dual-Link DVI cable instead of using their VGA cable. The results were spectacular. :camera: are at the link below. The pics do it some justice, but not much. You really have to be there in person to see it. Moving an image from the Sony monitor (which looks good) to the NEC monitor (which is great) really shows the difference.

Nice! Thanks for the pics! This is just what LCDs needed to achieve a great gamut. Now, I hope the prices of LEDs fall, a lot. (I didn't think LEDs were that expensive in the first place? Putting in a thousand regular-strength ones isn't bright enough?)

How is backlight bleeding and black level?? Do the LED-backlit ones still have to use film to even out the backlight? Is it just one really bright LED or is it many? And what about response time? Suitable for games yet? :p As far as I understand it, they should be able to get the response time to the same as the CCFL-backlit ones. SA-SFT (IPS) panel?

That monitor looks quite impressive. NEC still doesn't seem to have released it yet though. The $6700 2180WG you mentioned is the "lower end" 1600x1200 version, so this 2180QX will probably be quite a bit more expensive. :p

Unfortunately I think that you are right CP5670. It will be expensive, if and when they release it. Is it a significant increase in capability? Yes. It is worth the price? Probably not.
