My daughter got an "award" from this group. For 1 or 2 grand she can attend a conference, and watch a surgery. Do I have a few years of education predators to look forward to now? Like legitimate education isn't expensive enough...

Talk to the local hospitals, they might let her watch for free if she really shows sincere interest.

sounds like whos who among high school students where they put you in the book then offer to sell the book to the parents and grand-parents

not technically a scam, but sleazy as hell

They stroke their ego by touting exclusivity, so it makes me an ass by shitting on her day. I have to talk around the fact that "No, you aren't that special". I'm very proud of my daughter, and she does well(enough) at school, but I don't like the idea of buying $2k of feel goods...

I ran into that when she was in dance. Kansas City Ballet gave "auditions" to "single out" students for intensive training in Kansas City. Surprise, surprise. Everyone in my daughter's class passed the audition. Who knew there was so much excellence in one place?

haha: "You won!"

"omg what did I win?"

"the opportunity to give us 2 grand!"

"wtf?"

Look on the bright side, this is an excellent teaching opportunity for you, you can teach her all about scams.

Yep, teach her about the Who's Who and Honor Society scams while you're at it.

My college grades were good enough to put me on the Dean's List, which they used to try to pick out suckers.
