I bought a card yeaterday, was upposed to eb 9500np, it had l shaped ram so i was hopeful. Gte it home and throw it in the machien and go to boot up and get the message.
You have not plugged your 9700 into the external power connector or soem crap.

Soooo, I look at the card and it says sapphire 9500 pro,.. when I look at my drivers it says 9500/9700 seies, but the chipset info says 9700. 3dmark says 9700 pro, but itll only do like 2700 on 03 and 14k on 01.

any ideas wtf this thing is?

well, first of all connect the power cable ;)
then run several 3dmark benches and compare to both 9700's and 9500's to see what you're closer to.

Im not sure how accurate ati info is but it identifies it as an r300.

does that look at he cards bios or something to determine what the card is?

ack, now i look up the cards bios and it says its just a 9500 with tv out, so its a 9700 with a 9500 bios?

also it built by ati? im lost

how about you download Powerstrip, Radeonator, Rage3d tweak or something and check the clockspeeds?

i would say it is a non-pro just like it was purchased as. btw, all 9500/9700's are r300 cores.

doesnt really matter naymore, Im gonna take it back and get a 4800, at least I know what Im getting.

Also, clock settings dont really tell me anything. Sapphire 9500, 9500pro and 9700 all run at the same speeds.

Acccording to the numbers it is a built by ati card, it has a 102 number or whatever even though it does have a sapphire sticker with its own PN on it also. Dunno.

ehh, dont return that for a 4800 just because you cant compare in 3dmark03 or something.

HOW DOES IT PERFORM IN GAMES? (if it performs )

It does "okay" in the one game I mostly play, probably not as good as my old ti4600 did though.

I fixed my refresh, cranked the card up to 300/310 and reran 3dmark 01 and did just under 16k so im thinkin its mebbe a 9500pro.
