I didn't get the ending. They were showing Keifer as the good guy, yet he shot a pimp and cut innocent pizza guy's throat.

OMG THIS IS THE WORST MOST UNREALISTIC MOVIE!!!

first reason-- that main quote thatxs supoosed to be scary its something like...whenever a [phone rings....smoeone must answer it...becasue thats what fones are for...its lke WOW NO...REALLY???? it was a stupid quote to base a movie around (its on the dvd menu screen too)

secnod reason-- after all is over about 5 seconds after they allow total strangers (the killer) to WALK through the crime scene wtih a HUGE briefcase and even takl to the guy/!!?!?!? FAKE FAKE FAKE FKAE

third reason--- colin farrels charachter didint even do anything THAT BAD....which makes the whole premise retarted....if he was a kller or somethign ten it would have made sense....especially when hes apologizing and stuff it makes no sense its like wow u apoligized big deal who cares!!!

fouth reason-- how does shooter know what the cop is saying?

fifth reason--- cops were HORRIBLE actors and it was so fake when the cop started talking about his "own pwersonal experiences"....come on no1 would do that

there are more reasons dnot feel like typing htem but thsi was the WORST movie ive ever seen!!!

The movie also had gratuitous swearing. And I have a pretty high tolerance level. At times the swearing seemed forced, as if the writers realized they had a two-second gap into which they forgot to insert a swear word.

i think what bothered me most about the film, most of which i enjoyed ok, was Farrels Accent.

why did he put on that andy garcia wannabe accent? was it necessary for the role? i don't see how.

I enjoyed making fun of the cop when he would go on about his personal problems at the most akward times.

I was very impressed with Colin Farrell's performance, accent included. He almost made me believe that he really was a nice family-values guy who just messed up more than he should have. After the movie, I thought to myself, "Good grief, Farrell IN REAL LIFE is a total playboy, almost NOTHING like his character." He had me convinced.

However, the punishment didn't fit the crime, no matter what. I liked Kiefer Sutherland's performance, but his character was a little bit too much out there, even for a wacko. And yes, the hookers were downright annoying. :)

Is it true that the movie opens up with that quote about "if a phone rings, someone must answer it" or whatever?

Actually the quote wasn't suppose to be "scary" it was just meant to provide context, because it's true. If you hear a payphone ringing you would be compelled to answer it

secnod reason-- after all is over about 5 seconds after they allow total strangers (the killer) to WALK through the crime scene wtih a HUGE briefcase and even takl to the guy/!!?!?!? FAKE FAKE FAKE FKAE

The man with the suitcase walked past the police line in the background. He was dressed professionally, and often times, believe it or not professional people carry briefcases, sometimes they are "HUGE." It doesn't automatically make you a suspect. The ambulance that Colin farell's character was in was outside of the police barricade making easy for the killer to "touch his toes"

third reason--- colin farrels charachter didint even do anything THAT BAD....which makes the whole premise retarted....if he was a kller or somethign ten it would have made sense....especially when hes apologizing and stuff it makes no sense its like wow u apoligized big deal who cares!!!

You've obviously have never spoken with a traditionalist. The "premise" of the movie was not that people need to be punished for major crimes, rather it was that everyone commits minor transgressions everyday. We don't expect to be caught or found out but we never know who is watching. In this case someone who was disturbed watched and decided to take disciplinary actions into his own hands.

fouth reason-- how does shooter know what the cop is saying?

The killer had the phone booth wired. He explicitly says so when Colin's character tries to sneak and dial 911

fifth reason--- cops were HORRIBLE actors and it was so fake when the cop started talking about his "own pwersonal experiences"....come on no1 would do that

Trained police negotiators try to appeal to a persons rational side by showing empathy to the disturbed or unruly individual. One way of doing this is by sharing personal experiences...

I don't mind someone not liking a movie, but please understand it before you chastise it.

It's not too bad of a one-timer movie. I don't think it has a lot of replay value, though.

I'd give it around 3/5

Yeah it was a 3/5. Considering liberty stands still came out a year (?) back and was basically the same movie this one was difficult to get stoked up about. Also the plot was thin and rather pointless and just somewhat tedious.

Colin Farrell is no good at the rolls he has been thrown into. The only roll I could see him in is one with a second screen presance, like Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker or Will Smith and his buddy in Wild Wild West.

They were supposed to be annoying. You were supposed to hate them. Thats the point. Listen to the directors commentary. They were probably the only convincing characters in that whole stupid waste of 90 minutes.
