edit: from C/Net

At long last, Motorola and Verizon announced today the official availability and pricing of the Motorola Q. The Windows Mobile 5 smart phone will be sold on Verizon Wireless's Web site starting May 31 and in stores on June 5 for $199.99 with a two-year contract and $100 instant rebate. We'll be working hard to have a full review up in the next couple of days, but in the meantime, here are a few highlights:

Windows Mobile 5 Smartphone Edition
EV-DO support
Bluetooth 1.2
Push e-mail via GoodLink; access to POP3 e-mail accounts, including Yahoo and Hotmail
"World's thinnest" QWERTY device
Dual, stereo-quality speakers

it has built-in EVDO (same network as vcast)...which is better than 802.11 IMO for a cell phone.

That's why you get a screen protector and a nice case that covers the whole phone.

I don't know 1 person who carries their razr around open ;)

90% of the time, the razr will be closed :)

I dunno, I kind of like the MDA myself. Trwo 700w is nice, but I hear it has lesser specs than the 650, why I have no idea...

The new 8700 series blackberries are nice as well, and I might end up getting that one instead...

i know..but when people hear "thinner than the razr" they think about how thin the razr is when it's opened.

Well s***!

Our company just bought 5 700w's & 6 6700's. If I would have know I wouldn't have pushed so hard to get WM5 smartphones as quickly as we did :frown:

I'm not paying extra for what should've been the manufacturer's responsibility.

My 700w came with a screen protector. Those things do wear out though...I think it would be unreasonable to expect them to provide you with a lifetime supply of them or anything.

You don't HAVE to get a case. The screen protector will suffice, but a case just helps. If you don't get a case you will cause wear on the plastic casing like happens with EVERY other phone made.

So I don't see your problem. Have you seen the flip-phones with windows mobile? They have horribly small screens and they aren't really PDA's so you can't really compare them. A flip PDA I think would be strange.

It's going to be $199 after 2year (ouch) contract and $100 mir. Nice price. Love the look and form factor. Not sure about the lack of WiFi and touchscreen (never thought I'd say that after coming from a BlackBerry). We recently got Verizon service at our office as an option, but I still have 8mos left on my current TMo contract. :|

I'll wait for reviews before I consider dumping my MDA. I still don't trust Motorola. :/
