I don't care about performances.
Only how it plays dvds.. I want it to be as quiet as possible..really..
Sure, they play at X1 speed but, there has to be the quietest one..

I heard sony and samsung ones are pretty quiet.
I wondre howmakes sony brand ones..

Theres a SW tool which lets you set a max rpm for your CD / DVD drive. Its called "cd-bremse" (cd-break) and can be found at

Yep, page is in german :) , dont know if theres an english version.
This can reduce plenty of the noise by trading a bit of the performance.
If you want a quiet drive for audio or video playing this SW is a good choice, you wont need 40x speed for those tasks.
