[q]The Legatum Prosperity Index is the world's only global assessment of wealth and wellbeing; unlike other studies that rank countries by actual levels of wealth, life satisfaction or development, the Prosperity Index produces rankings based upon the very foundations of prosperity those factors that will help drive economic growth and produce happy citizens over the long term.[/q]

The list directly corresponds with the "best educated" countries as defined by mean reading and math scores of high school students.

Funny, how the top places are taken up by heavily socialist countries. Maybe there's something to be learned from them.

Also funny how the US is ranked #1 in health... While having 10x the population of the most populated country ranked above it.

Oh, and it's also funny how just about every country above the US has an incredibly homogeneous population... But I guess the facts are just racist.

How is that possible? Could the list merely be left-wing Marxist propaganda? Since those nations have real socialized medicine shouldn't they all be mired in poverty and squalor? That's what my local TEA Party candidate said would happen.

On yet another list the US is the first of the large countries.

We have states with larger populations than every country that beat us.

US roughly spend twice amount of $ per citizen on healthcare than the european countries. So they better be best.

And that's 2008 numbers before obamacare

I thought our healthcare system was the shame of the world? That's all we've been told for the last 2 years... We need to be more like Norway and Sweden...

And as another poster pointed out, most of our states are the size of those countries... Maybe we should rank the US against the EU as a whole.

I for one am not surprised that socialist states fair better than our fascist system. Or "mixed economy" as some like to call it.

It is the shame of the world, because 1/3 of the country will go bankrupt if they fall and break their leg.

Saying the system is fine is flat out lying. Repeating it doesn't make it true. Every first and second world nation has a national healthcare system of some kind. We are a joke on this matter.
