How much did it cost?
What kind of food was there? (specific examples, i.e. steaks, lobster)
Did anything make it stand out more than a regular wedding? (besides the cost)

Don't know how much it was, but there were beluga snacks, lobster, ice sculpture in every table, string quartet and so on, now that I think of it it was kind of stereotyped

I think in the $50k range was the highest yet, and I've been to about 5-6 weddings so far. Sit down 5 course meal for 200-250 people, full open bar, venue was a private men's club so that probably cost a bit. Since I drank a ton, I don't really remember much about the food, other than they served filet mignon to everybody.

My parents went to a wedding about 2 years ago that was $250k. They said it was ridiculously over the top.

EAsily $150K, probably much more: http://www.flickr.com/photos/k...ets/72157615342615468/

For you Filipinos out there, had about 20 sponsors, and both bride and groom are attorneys.

One cool thing about the wedding. It was a wedding and reception at the same hotel, one right after the other. At teh reception, the videographer showed a video presentation, all edited, with music and dialogue, of the wedding prep and wedding ceremony! That part was awesome!

Food was unbelievable (this was a Hawaii wedding, were food is a premium at weddings)...suckling pig for days, sushi, open bar, a buffet that seemed to have everything and everything of quality!

There's nothing about Hawaiian or Filipino food that is expensive, except perhaps sushi (now you are talking about outside influences) and pig. Other than that, spam and eggs, mac salad, etc are not pricey.

$400k BH hotel 7 course steak and lobster, open bar, dessert station, basketball and kobe bryant jersey cake, tiffany's glassware wedding favor, USC MARCHING BAND *BARF*, sliders at 11pm, Lawry's rehersal dinner the night before. And a bobblehead in the likeness of me as groomsmen favors.

good man!

I hope to follow your footsteps in the future, but I have a feeling that most girls are hard pressed to accept an 800 dollar wedding.

Bonus points if part of the 800 dollars included renting the venue, if any.

This is what I'm thinking as well.

Not unreasonable. At my wedding the bastards ran up $8k in 1 hour.

Mine was about $2800 but $2000 of that was airfare/hotel/gift for the pastor who performed the ceremony. Includes the venue.

Of course, if your wedding had GUESTS then you win. We did family-only. It was an awkward and unpleasant situation and the only good part of the day is that I walked away with the best guy on earth. :)

As far as most expensive wedding I've been too, I don't know. I don't price them when I go, just seems tacky. People (wedding party AND guests) are way too focused on dollars, costs, gifts, fanciness.

A friend of mine was married in Orange County, there was an ex-governor of California there along with a couple of Supreme Court Justices. I have no idea what it cost but it was a very nice affair and a lot of fun actually.

Invite me to these types of weddings.

Only one I've been to was my friend's wedding in Sudan. Great event.....lasted about a week. 4-5 different wedding ceremonies. I was the official photog. Cost? If you don't count the cost of the jewlery (amazing how they could afford such jewlry over there!) it was probably around 5-6k...which is a LOT for Sudan.

Too bad my luggage got lost...and with it went all my photos :\ After that event I learned to always keep memory cards on me.

IMO why waste so much on such an event? I never understood it...only reason was 'its the pinnacle of bla bla bla for women'. Dayum, if the pinnacle of her life will be the wedding....then I'm not interested in marriage with her!

I think it would be pretty classless to tell the guests how much the wedding cost, so I really have no idea.

either Anand's wedding or my GF sister. They both prob spent close tot he same amount, but at a cost per head would be the GF sister since it was at Hawaii and only 20 of us where there.
