The most depressing Sci-Fi movie evar!

The movie is Silent Running: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067756/

I am not sure what is more depressing:

The fact that all of earth's plants and animals were exterminated

or

The OST with Joan Baez singing.

Otherwise it isn't the worst sci-fi movie I have seen. I would give it 7 out of 10.

I felt kinda sad when the last Replicant dies in Blade Runner. Then again, it could have just been Vangelis' beautiful score combined with Roy's dying words:

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

Heck, the ending of Star Wars wasn't exactly cheerful: Vader rediscovers the good in himself and once again becomes Anakin...yet Luke never gets to know his real father.

Fully agree. I've seen Silent Running before on TV, something like 10-15 years ago. I also felt pretty down towards the end, that song kinda did me in too. ::sniffle:: 😛
