I was flipping channels the other day when I see a concert in the japanese channel. It was Morning Musume. The link says 13, but now there are like 21 little girls in their pre-teens dancing and singing. I find it curious and kinda perverted at the same time. I've never seen a format for pop groups like this before in US or england. Would something like this work in US?

EDIT: search for dc's posts. He linked lots of stuff about this group. Thanks dc!

No. Japan has a known tolerance for pedophilia-oriented entertainment, and the US does not.

The Morning Musume girls aren't all pre-teen. A couple of them are pretty fine. They'll do songs with only part of the group, like the little girl portion or something, and songs with the whole group. It's really kind of an odd situation.

But no, sh!t like that would never, ever fly in the US. Not a chance.

OMGOMGOMGOMG

i saw the title and thought to myself, nay he can't be talking about MM. OMG CHO SHOCK

MORNING MUSUME FOREVER!!!!!!!!!1111111 <3 <3 <3

morning musume started in late 1997 as a group of 5 runner ups from a rock soloist competition on the tv tokyo show asayan. nakazawa yuko(24), ishiguro aya(19), iida kaori(16), abe natsumi(16), fukuda asuka(13), those are the ages at the time of the audition/forming. they were challenged by the people running the audition, rock group SharamQ(TSUNKU RULES), to sell 50 thousand copies of their first song "ai no tane" in 5 days i think it was and they would become a group. so emotional watching those early footage. ;_;

since then there have been several auditions adding new members and graduations where members leave.

first gen: original 5 members
2nd gen: yasuda kei, yaguchi mari, iichi sayaka
3rd gen: goto maki
4th gen: ishikawa rika, yoshizawa hitomi, kago ai, tsuji nozomi
5th gen: takahashi ai, ogawa makoto, niigaki risa, konno asami
6th gen: kamei eri, tanaka reina, michishige sayumi, fujimoto miki

currently they are at 14 members. abe natsumi one of the 2 remaining original members just graduated to a solo career from the group on january 25. now the only remaining original member is iida kaori.

they have done so many different styles of music over the years, while many people think of all their songs as kiddy, just shows that they have only heard some of the super cheery sugar laced stuff. they are also on many tv shows, commercials, radio shows, etc. they have had many memorable songs, i swear everyone in japan knows the song love machine. :p

and anyone remember that clip that was posted here a while ago of that japanese tvshow where the host was whacking the crap out of the girl with that fan thing? woot, go kei-chan, getting hamada pissed off like that.

i also <3 the rest of hello! project(mm, matsuura aya, goto maki, melon kinenbi, country musume, etc), all produced by tsunku. they are the main reason why i have 1.6TB of hd space and am dirt poor. =/

the mm channel on irc use to be on mircx, but due to it's demise i think they moved to efnet #morning~musume

official homepage morningmusume.dream.com
discography morningmusume.dream.com/record/index.html
a info page www.morningmusumeonline.com
and there's a BT tracker that's devoted to mm/hp

there are some vids/performances/concerts that are totally insane that i'd love to share with you guys, you see the crazy fans chanting and jumping around like nuts. :)

wooooooooooooooo, must stop ranting and take me medication.

I believe what you're trying to say is that it doesn't make us want to buy their panties.

Could a pop group like this be the next big thing in US??
I sure hope not. It's bad enough with all this Britney Spears/Hey Ya crap that's being presented as music!

I am absolutely speechless. What songs are good? I downloaded some songs and they absolutely suck. However, the song I heard on TV was catchy. All I remember is that at the end they said "Victoryyyyy!!!" :p

which songs did you think suck? i want to see what style you prefer. if it's a old song it's probably slower/more mature sounding, while most of the newer stuff is upbeat/energetic. heh.

and victory would be "Go Girl ~Koi no victory~" their 20th single released on nov. 6. one of their happy happy high energy songs.:) and the limited edition single came with a cool m shaped clip thing. lol. i'm uploading the mp3 to some webspace, i can also up the pv(music vid) if you want.

being bittorrented recently:
-2003-2004 songs/mp3 pack
-few of their older pvs
-a subtitled test thing from last year, it was to determine who is the stupidest member. lol, there was also a test to determine who is the most unathletic member, but that's pretty much dead/seedless now.
-there's also 2 dvd images that have almost all their pvs till present.

if anyone's interested, pm me.
