The more I make, the less I want to spend

When I was a grad student making $20K/year, I was buying a bunch of crazy stuff, like stereo equipment, a big TV, fancy clothes, video games for my PS, PS2, Dreamcast, PC, etc.

Now I'm working in my 30s (still single), making a very good salary, and I'm finding that I don't want to spend my money anymore on frivolous things (e.g. plasma TV, DirectTV, high-end PC, video games, or any of that crap). I don't suppose this means I'm becoming an adult? :)

No, the more I make, the more I spend and the less happy I am and the more I want. I was happier working at Burger King making $4 a hour than I am now making $30 a hour.

Send me that $26/hr and you'll be happy again.

Me too.
The older you get, the more you think about retiring early and therefore you want to save more.

I have always spent less, regardless of how much I made. But, now I tend to buy better quality stuff that is a little more expensive. I just don't spend on stuff I don't need.

Only if you can fulfill my dream of living like the Comic Book guy on the Simpsons and be happy. My dream as a teenager was to be like the Comic Book guy and own a comic book store and I was such much happier than. Now I have to worry about supporting a wife and a kid.

99 tacos for $99, what a deal!

So true!

My income has tripled in the last 6yrs and I'm driving a 7yr old Ford while my coworkers are sporting 'Vettes, G35's, and BMW's.

Heres to retirement in 15yrs!

Word.

When I was 25, my idea of an investment was buying DVD Collector's Editions. Now it's freaking small-cap mutual funds.

My teens just ended nearly six months ago. I already am sick of a lot of stuff, but occasionally it's not a bad thing to get something fun like new head phones for that CD player of yours. Don't become an egg head, though. Spending wisely is a very good trait, as many others in the United States have proven quite the opposite, including myself! lol

Now that I am making more money, I feel obligated to save more because for some reason, It really upsets me when my savings account goes backward. Puts me in a bad mood until it goes back up :(
