I still don't understand why people buy this. Water is free and sugar is pretty darn cheap.

It's crazy that these people are making BILLIONS. There is just no limit to people's stupidity.

it's not just water and sugar and caffeine - these things have all kinds of nasty shit. unless they find alternative recipes, these companies will be shut down soon.

I suspect something was seriously wrong with her if she had a heart attack from 240mg of caffeine.

AFAIK in all of these cases where people have "died from drinking energy drinks", the deceased have had underlying heart problems. No one (to the best of my knowledge) with a healthy heart has died from drinking these.

That would suck for my wife's friend. She worked for Fleetwood for years and lost her job to downsizing. She got a new job with Monster.

There is no way that family is going to win nor will this hurt monster. The girl had a pre-existing medical condition that can be amplified with caffeine.

Hmm, so you're saying she shouldn't have been drinking caffeinated drinks? :awe:

But they're so delicious! Not gonna stop me.
The iced tea and lemonade Rehab ones are my favorite, pop or Mio/water doesn't come close to the tastiness.

The defense is going to play on the fact that her her pre-existing heart condition is the reason why she died. They will bring in a physician who will say that caffeine, stimulants and other physical exertion should had been avoided.

If anything monster may have to put a warning label on their stuff, but it's not going to shut them down.

The company touts Monster Energy Drink on its website as a 'killer energy brew' and 'the meanest energy supplement on the planet'.

Well, at least you can't fault them for false advertising.

People have won insanely dumb lawsuits. This one is just negligence of health issues. They could potentially win. Though odds are Monster will settle out of court.

IT'S GOT SEVEN TIMES THE AMOUNT OF THE CAFFEINE FOUND IN A 12-OUNCE COLA!!!11!!ONE!!

That sure sounds scarier than saying it has the same amount of caffeine as a strong cup of coffee, doesn't it? Assholes...

For reference, when Mio energy came to our store, myself and a few others took the whole thing shot style. That's over 1000mg of caffeine in about two seconds.

Haha, holy crap! That'd get you going.
I'll have to try to find the energy version, I've only tried the regular stuff so far.

I read this as 2x for 2 days. And, yes, I agree...most likely a pre-existing condition.

edit, all the posts didn't load for me right away...now I see the rest.

The medical examiner also found that she had an inherited disorder that can weaken blood vessels

'With their bright colors and names like Monster, Rockstar, and Full Throttle, these drinks are targeting teenagers with no oversight or accountability. These drinks are death traps for young, developing girls and boys, like my daughter, Anais.'

I'm pretty sure that there is a warning label on the cans:
