...when I start a game like Mechwarrior 4. Pretty sure the problem is related to the refresh rate. I've got the rate at 85 and the rez at 1024 x 768. Geforce 2 Gts with the 6.72 Nvidia ref drivers. When I lower the refrsh rate to 75, the game does start, but the whole screen flickers constantly. The monitor manual says it supports both rates at these rez's, and runs fine at these settings except when I start the game.

Love to play at highest refresh rate possible. Suggestions?

 
Already used the search function here, other posts mention possible registry tweaks as a solution?

Where do I find these reg settings?
 
Once I do regedit, how do I change the available refresh rates on the video card? Any answer will have to be detailed. I've never monkeyed with registry before.
 
Dont take that long route. Instead do a search for a SUPER AMAZING GREAT WONDERFUL AWESOME utility called HzTool. It sets them all for you. Maybe a bit of overkill and not a hard process but a damn good utility.
 
Tried the Hz Tool. The program is a little dated and hasn't been tested on newer cards. It didn't detect my drivers. I did just use the regedit and re-adjusted the "default" setting to 85, set the refresh rate to 85, and the games run.
