With all this talk about whether or not it should be kept, why not just dock it to the International Space Station? It could be used to put bad astronaughts into time out or something....

Wouldn't it make more sense to do something like that with it, though?

A little off topic but couldn't we drop it on the customers who are to stupid to live?

it might be "useless" now that the international space station is going to be up there, but generally people have the misconception that the mir was a failure. the mir was put into orbit to last a very short time, and has continued well past that date. i'm talking like a decade past it's original "death" date. the mir is a miraculous machine that went above and beyond what was expected of it. it's just time for it to go.

In case no one has noticed, Mir's existence no longer is defended as contributing to the advancement of science. Its continued existence is defended as contributing to Russian identity, Russian pride and, hopefully, Russian income.

The International Space Station doesn't need a technological, political relic attached to it.

Mir should be saved, or not, according to the wishes and needs of the Russians. The ISS doesn't need the fire hazard, dead mass.

I think some millionere bought it, he is going to turn it into a hotel soon. Good luck to him eh:)
