I was watching the General Conference of the Mormon Church on the BYU channel. So during the break in between sessions they had a show on about severly disable people. There was this one mother that was told her son had the intelligence of a 6 month old child, but she refused to believe it. She found a doctor who used a system to interact with such children through technology.
So the Doctor puts some electrodes on this young man's face and hooks up the big screen TV and the computer and he starts playing computer games and using a paint program. After people enter this program they start to develop and become more attentive. The most significant find was that before this people can be considered to have no intelligence, but in reality they had self awareness and intelligence but they just could not express themselves because they were trapped in a body that did not work.
It was amazing that this doctor found a way to open the mind's eye and finally enable these people to enteract with the world. These people were not dumb, they just had no way to escape their shell of a broken body. Then one of these people received a diploma from high school.
This program is called "Eagle Eye".
