interesting article
To come up with our Mendacity Index, we asked a nominating committee* of noted journalists and pundits to pick the most serious fibs, deceptions, and untruths spoken by each of the four most recent presidents. We selected the top six for each commander-in-chief, then presented the list to a panel of judges** with longtime experience in Washington. Panel members were instructed to rate each deception on a scale of 1 (least serious) to 5 (most serious). Then we averaged the scores for each deception and for each president. We believe their validity rests somewhere between the Periodic Table and the U.S. News & World Report college rankings.

Interesting. The Bush-lite and Reagan scores seemed a little low to me, but overall, I agree with the order.

Actually they both are rather high for what they chose to point out. People think of Bush Jr's as "really bad" because we are in the now and history has a way of tempering certain things. To give the "16 words" thing a 4.5 or to even mention it is absurd as it has been taken wildly out of context and been WAY overblown. It is obvious the media and the left is clinging to failed accusations and still seek to protect their wonderboy Clinton.

I'll tell you what's overblown... Clinton lying about sex and getting impeached. Clinton didn't sell arms to terrorist (Reagan) nor did he train Osama Bin Laden (Bush Sr).

Not to say Clinton was a perfect president, but he certainly isn't the anti christ the right made him out to be.

I only wish I had a $1 for every time I've heard you say that.

True enough but he deserved impeachment nonetheless.

I wish I had a nickel for every time Bush and his minions lied to us. I'd have enough to buy my own POTUS. :D

(And if I had a nickle for every time any politician lied, I could buy both houses of Congress. Probably several other countries too.)

That's only 3.8?
Especially when Clinton's lie about Lewinsky was rated 4.1. That's why I thought this was a little too easy on Bush-lite and Reagan.

but the "16 words" which are 100% factual gets a 4.5. This thing is obviously a joke.

Clinton's words were 100% factual too, at least according to his definition of "sexual relations".

But whatever helps you sleep at night.

Does anyone know if Bush ever came out and said something like, "Oh, looks like I was wrong when I said that we found the WMD" ...or do you think he still stands by that statement...or do you think he's like "Oh well, I was wrong but I'll be damned if I ever admit it."
