I have been trying to figure out the fascination with Jacko and the missing teen. I understand the "train wreck" psychological aspect of it. What I don't get is the media trampling all over itself to give the latest updates. Which leads me to my kinda rhetorical questions below.

Forgive my naivity....but isn't there a war currently going on? Wasn't there a document release that implies that our president manipulated the intelligence to take us to war? Isn't Congress debating a bill that has the ability, if abused, to limit our constitutional rights? Isn't there debate about stem cell research that could save millions of lives in the future?

Why focus on these two individuals?

Not en election year, they dont have to try and get a democrat into office.

Funny how unemployment rarely gets mentioned by the media now and before the election it was run 18 times a day.

The difference in unemployment from then to now is about .2% points.

You're anti-american and full of hate, go away and just watch the news and be happy.

Read the book "Bad News". It's a good look at what is wrong with the media, especially in regards to marketing. Executives think that kind of stuff nets viewers, while things like wars don't as much.

the media reports negative things regardless of who the president is but you are correct that since there is no election going on they aren't reporting these important issues. i don't think there is any media conspiracy to get democrats elected (otherwise i would be wondering why GW is our president again).

Waaaaah! Waaaah! The liberal media! Waaaaah!

God you people are annoying. If the media really was liberal and wanted to fry Bush, we should have heard, before the election, story after story on the intelligence that led us to believe Iraq had WMDs. It was pretty clear that the logic behind the invasion was full of holes big enough for the media to exploit if they wanted to. But they pretty much seemed to give Bush a free ride. And when things did seem anti-Bush, such as Rather's piece, the media dealt with it very seriously. I know you people act like that was the norm, but for most people it stood out because it was unusual.

The media isn't liberal. They are, at times, incompetent...but they don't have this bias going that you people seem to see. Of course a lot of you people think Fox News really is fair and balanced, so there is really no talking to you.

There is just look at the news stories before the election and after. There was a definate push by the MSM in this country to really put Bush on the grill.

I brought up unemployment because it is so obvious.
Especially when you compare it to the stories they ran before Clintons 2nd run for election in 95. Same exact unemployment figures but Clintons was a strong economy\employment scenario, Bush was the end of the world as we know it scenario played out by the media.

Hmm lets see how many stories did they run on abuses at Abu Grahib?
How many stories about Micheal Moores movie?
How many stories about the economy in the toilet(eventhough it grew at 4.4%).
How many stories about unemployment?
What about Bush's national guard service?

You really have to stick your head in the sand to think there isnt a bias in the media.

Because they knew while they agreed with Dean, Kerry was a more presentable candidate.

You dont really hear much about Dean and his mouth except for maybe Fox and the other MSM will throw it on A17 under the Walmart ad.

But when Cheney yapped his mouth off it was front page news for a week.

Hmm....those are things that SHOULD have been reported over and over, except for the Michael Moore movie. They were/are things that effect all of our lives as US citizens. Get over it.

Let's talk about some of the other stories that ran:

How many stories about the SBV were there?
How many stories about "Kerry is a flip-flopper"?
How many stories about "Bush is keeping us safe"?
How many stories about tax "relief"?
How many about Kerry wasn't in Cambodia?

Probablyas much or more than the other stories that you posted. Unfortunatley, you are all too caught up in the "Liberal Media" myth to even recognize that your boy got off about as easy as anyone could have considering his track record. Oh, and the Dean stories are on EVERY "liberal" news outlet. Nice try though.

People like variety.

Which is a PC way of saying many have the attention span of an unintelligent rock. People are getting tired of hearing about the war. It's waaaayyyy exceeded their attention span. It's the very reason Bush is losing support from those same people. They want quick fixes and MTV moments where they don't have to focus on, let alone actually think abuot, any one thing for longer than 15 seconds. Michael Jackson and the Aruba girl story are a change of pace. A diversion from the same ol, same ol bad news. A different spin on death and disaster.

And the media is surely hoping something else new and completely shocking happens next week so they can put that front and center and sell their wares.

The media is corporate America. They want you at the Colosseum watching the lions eat the Christians and ignoring the issues that could cause you to become something other than a herd cow to milk.

All day yesterday the news was that there was no news on Michael Jackson.

ROI on advertising would be my guess.
