The media

Am I the only one getting a mental picture of a salivating dog when I think about how the media is acting over the Pope's condition. Turning through the 24hr news channel with the same camera angles and "death clock" in one corner. I just know they're praying ( ) to be the first ones to announce "The Pope is dead!". I actually hope the pontiff holds on for a few more hours or even days just to make the media sit and fidget.

I know I know, it's really big news and many people want to know what's going on and blah blah blah. I actually used to be a news junkie until I worked for a news station for a few months. Then just seeing the business, ratings driven side of things completely disillusioned me about the role as "the great equalizer" the media supposedly plays.
