The media needs a good kick in its ass

In reference to this article...

"Various glassware, some of which, like the three-neck flask, is illegal to possess in itself," said Agent Gregory Borland. "(We found) a number of chemicals that are known to be involved in making methamphetamines."

Actually that is not what the agent was trying to say. It is only illegal to posses when it is used to make methamphetamines because it is then considered drug paraphernalia.

I made sure of this by asking a narcotics officer that I have a class with. He assured me this was the media being their usual dumb self. It is appalling to see the news report a three-neck flask is illegal. Do they even have anyone check for facts? Evidently not.

Hehe...I and every other chemistry major would be in jail if those things were "illegal to posess in and of itself".

OT- I'm not in the least sad that there's at least some effort being made to crack down on meth production. That crap makes crack and heroin look like baby food.

I'm surprised the article didn't say the three-neck flask killed someone. The media is usually good about giving life and purpose to inanimate objects like the story that someone posted the other day about the stolen tractor slow-speed chase. It was the tractor that led the police on a slow speed chase and tried to back into police cars, not the thief who was driving the tractor. The thief got all of one line in the entire story.

Sometimes the media is lazy, sometimes they are incompetent, and sometimes they are purposefully misleading.

Whatever it takes to sell the "NEWS"
Tell one side today, then the other side of the story, another day.Maybe 😱

BTW, that quote in my sig if from a guy in jail due to dealing methamphetamine.

Whew, okay cool to know that it is legal to have a three-way flask. I wonder, though, if that distillation, concentration, and soxhelt equipment that I have up and running in my closet is okay to have.

I hate the media - my friends were the victims of a malicious crime, and the media were out to get them - they even printed their fscking names on the paper the next day! WTF?! :disgust::|

i've been saying this for a while.

And CNN is one of the worst perpetrators.

i've stopped watching the local news because they NEVER show anything good anymore. they think that they will attract ratings by exaggerating, speaking techniques, and creating a sense of urgency in people? well they lost my rating.

i prefer the BBC. (of course i don't get much local news though.)

Hey, I resent that!

<---Media

When I was the news director for our stations, I plainly presented the facts, made sure that no quotes were out of context, and tried to cover both sides of stories. Large media outlets are not the place to get your news.

"Included were two three-neck flasks which are illegal to possess and carry a minimum sentence of five years upon conviction, he said."

21 U.S.C. § 843(a)(6), says that it is unlawful "to possess any three-neck round-bottom flask . . . specially designed or modified to manufacture a controlled substance
