The Matrix wasn't orginal, it copied TRON

Watching TRON the plot lines and very premise is the exact same. Rogue programs, user being incorporated into the operating system.

They are one and the same!!!

Yea cus in TRON the machines take over the world and create a fake world for us.

Meh, I haven't watched TRON in over a decade and I'm seeing the same plot.

The user in TRON is the machine, just a role reversal. Ohh sweet! Here comes the cycles!!!

Remember the cylce scene from matrix 2?

Actually, the plot of the Matrix is just an old philosophical thought experiment with added CGI effects...

Did anybody claim the Matrix was original? I always thought it was just some of the filmography and effects that were newish.

The first movie is a classic even if it borrows heavily from earlier work.

Rent Megazone 23 sometime and be surprised at how much was lifted from it for the matrix.

Most of the cool themes, visuals and dynamics in The Matrix were lifted from Blade.

Watch them back to back, Blade first and you'll see.

the problem is that tron was gay.

edit: also, in the matrix universe, defense companies use early vietnam-era m16's. that's odd.

Absolutely nothing is original. You can trace nearly every story back to some old greek story, which can probably be traced back to some older story.

Check out Dark City, which came out I think a year before. Of course it was fairly derivative as well, going all the way back to Metropolis (1927). I've been meaning to watch that, its been sitting in my Netflix queue forever.

Taken from the Dark City Wiki page:
The Matrix was released one year after Dark City and was also filmed at Fox Studios in Sydney using some of the same sets.[8] Comparisons have been made between scenes from the movies, making note of similarities in both cinematography and atmosphere, as well as the plot.
